About the Author

Julie was born and raised in the East Bay Area, California. Four years after high school, she earned a BA in English. Later, she returned for an MFA in Media Design—when her five kids were ages 6-14. She currently battles hormones and meltdowns from her four daughters, and threatens to tie her son down so he’ll hold still, and hears enough voices in her head to necessitate indulging in her first passion—multi genre writing. OK, maybe multi genre reading came first, but writing followed quickly after, and word got out that she’s a talented author and crack editor. Now a book reviewer and copyeditor for InD’tale Magazine, occasional designer of logos, book covers, and editor for other authors, she’s also gone back to her third love, teaching—but did it her own way, by teaching adults who never finished school—focusing on reading and writing. She might be just this close to insane. She traded coastal weather for sweltering desert heat where there are indeed four seasons: winter, summer, more summer and still summer. The name Julie L. York is for anything fantasy, paranormal, science-fiction, historicals... The name Julie King York is specific to Christian/religious...

this book was a little over 200 pages. It didn't have a lot of substance to it but it was a entertaining read. It was easy to figure out the ending of the story rather quickly.

A novel about two.people who find each other at a masked ball and are instantly attracted to each other. G rated

I like the heroine- she is not a flower wilting in a too-hot ballroom, refreshing for a historical romance! Yes, it's a little short and thus not overly complex, but it's also free. Besides, this way we don't have to deal with contrived misunderstandings or overreactions just to make the book longer. Definitely romance, not religion or erotica. And definitely not a waste of time. :)

I am very happy with this book. Most free book have a lot of inapropreate things, but this book had little to none!

Mystery, romance make this book good for a second read.

This was a nice story, but I would have liked a little more. I was disappointed that it ended so soon. Lady Bryn is a strong woman which was nice. The editor really needs to do a better job of editing. There were a lot of missing words, poor word choices (maybe spellcheck gone awry?), and just strange sentence structure. It drove me crazy.

I was left feeling the need for more to help close the book! It is a wonderful read, besides wanting more. I kept flipping the pages to see if there was more at the end, but of course there wasn't. I give it 4 stars and I recommend it because it is capturing, and I simply love romances. I agree that there was not a lot of depth to this book, but overall enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book, which surprised me at first. From the very beginning I thought I'd have issues with the adultery thing, but that actually got worked out pretty well for me. I like the characters, and only wish there had been a little more.

Short story with previews of other writings. Did not draw me into the piece. Will be deleting.

This book is a good way to spend a few hours reading, but it's predictable.

I really like the idea behind this book with a twist but I wished the characters could come together again in a more dramatic, sexy event or series of events. This is a really good book though and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes reading romance.

This story is only 161 pages long. The first 3/4 of it was very slow and seemed as though written by an 8th grader. The later portion was written after gaining further education. This author needs to do quite a bit of editing and take out some of the fluff, put in more face time with the characters.

Entertaining... I think by page 20 everyone figures out the ending. But, the fun was getting to the end. It is about 160 pages, with the rest being for another story set-up. But, it is sweet, no sex and a story of a husband and wife, who don't know each other. Except for what happens at a Ball, they learn what is missing in their spouse. Quick read- (ljb)
