It is always fun to read Raymond Chandler. I first read The Big Sleep for a class I took at UCLA on popular fiction, taught be a really entertaining professor with the unlikely name of Dr. Linda Venus. It has been 30 years but I still recall her pink pant suit and hoop earrings, but I digress. Lady in the Lake has a more coherent plot than the Big Sleep. It is easier to tell who killed who in it. I found it really interesting because it takes place in LA during WWII and gives us a picture of what life might have been like on the home front.

My ecopy of this book has a missing page in one of the critical scenes toward the end of the novel. While this did not ruin the plot which can be pieced together from what follows, it left an unfortunate hole. Enough of a gap that I felt I should alert others before they purchase this edition.

THis novel by Raymond Chandler expresses Marlowe's quick tongued charm with accuracy and is a very good book. The End,.
