The story takes place in one of my favorite cities, New Orleans. Ms. Richards knows the city well and this alone would cause me to read the book. It is such a good story though, that I would continue to read it no matter where it took place. Joshua Martane is passionate about his profession. When he has to butt heads with administration at the hospital for the proper care of his patient he will. It doesn’t matter to him that she doesn’t remember who she is or that most people believe her to be a “Lady of the Night” or prostitute. There is suspense mixed with love and caring.

A story of a woman with an unknown past and a mysterious stranger set in one of America’s most mystical cities. The plot is unraveled with the help of the woman’s psychiatrist who fights his physical attraction to her. Intrigue and romance are folded together to create a mixture as delicious as a bowl of gumbo!

I was thoroughly captured from the first paragraph. Emilie Richards always has a talent for developing sympathetic and dynamic characters; once again, she excels. The plot is intriguing throughout. Just when you think you know what is going on, something develops and the story takes a wonderful twist. Richards’ attention to detail creates in the readers’ eye a vivid image of the settings for the story. Maggie’s story is very real. We sense her confusion and frustration as together we uncover her past and watch her bloom into her future. This is a story of adversity, power, love and resolution. I know that all who read this will enjoy it as much as have I. I can’t wait to read the second and third books in the series.

What would you do if someone entered your life--someone who has no memory, but is suspected of being less than an upright individual--and you start feeling an attraction towards that person? That is the question that is raised in this book. Do you trust your feelings that go against all evidence and believe in the good of that person? Should you act on your attraction and give your heart not knowing the past? Is there a sweetheart? A spouse? Children? Ms. Richard writes of a woman given the name Maggie, whom upon awakening from a coma with no memory, discovers that she was almost murdered by someone with the same MO as a known prostitute killer. Joshua, a doctor, is drawn to Maggie and is determined to help her when danger arrives back at her bedside The two struggle with the demons within while they try to hold off those of the physical world that pursue them. This is a re-release/rewrite of one of Ms. Richard's earlier books. The suspense in Lady of the Night was a new thing for me in her writing. It was done very well. For me this was entertaining, but also thought provoking as are most of Ms. Richard's books. A great read!

Here's love story full of enough compassion to overlook the worst of appearances. She's lost her memory. He's attracted to this vulnerable young woman. Through intriguing and suspenseful twists and turns the story intensifies to it's conclusion. Love the ending. PS - I received an ARC unedited version for an honest review.

This suspense novel is about a lady who awakens from a five-month coma. She had been attacked and left for dead. Except for the nightmares she endures, she has no memory of who she is or what happened to get her to the present. Her psychologist, Joshua Martane, has a real interest in her well-being and in helping her rediscover herself. He lets her choose a temporary name, Maggie, and tries to keep her safe while she attempts to heal, redeem her memory, and regain her strength. In hiding once she leaves the hospital, they both want to unfold the mystery of her life and find out who wanted her dead, and the reasons for it. I really got into this story. I felt like I was part of the excitement New Orleans lives for, and could see the streets, the homes, and the wrought iron balcony railings extending from the buildings. I felt the hard driven rain and felt the danger lurking around Joshua and Maggie. This well written story, updated by Emilie Richards, deserved to be brought back to life. I loved it.
