My mother-in-law bought this for my three-year-old daughter and I am the one suggesting we read it each day. She loves it, too, but I enjoy reading it out loud to her. Lulu is a great little girl and her adventures are similar to my daughter's. It's a great picture of how girls can love to play dress up and explore the natural world - they don't have to be pigeon holed into one role. The writing flows nicely and is a great read-out-loud book. We will be getting the rest of the books in this series.

What a wonderful story. Great characters and story theme.Grandaughter enjoyed it very much. And she really wasn't to little for anything, she was a true ladybug girl.

While this is not my daughter's favorite of the series, she still enjoys this very sweet story about a girl, her dog and using her imagination as a little girl in a big world where other's (mainly her big brother) won't let her participate. My daughter's favorite of the series, however, is Ladybug Girl and Bingo which also takes place outdoors when the family goes camping and is a little more imaginative with their surroundings, which is something my 4 year old relates to more and therefore, enjoys more.

I have a 3 year old girl who received this as a gift and then I bought it for a gift for someone else. The story is very empowering for a girl and encourages independence. The bad thing is that while I enjoy it, I think it might be a book that resonates more with the parent than the child. I wish my three year old would want to read it more often. I think a little girl with a strong attachment to a pet dog or who has an older brother might connect to it and enjoy it more. I'm not sure if it has a clear enough plot for my young one, it's more about little mini adventures over the course of a morning. It could maybe use a little more humor to appeal to a 3 year old, but it's an easy book for a parent to read over and over again.
