Vowell has a knack for making historic narratives come alive with real wit. Even if you never thought yourself the type to remotely enjoy anything from the history/nonfiction section, give this a try and you’ll likely be surprised.

Get the audiobook if you are going to get it. Loved much of her other work, but this one seems off.
