Overview

"Scotland, 1344

She believes men are not honorable nor are they kind-until she meets one that changes her heart forever.

Betrayed by lies told before her birth, Aishlinn is raised by a harsh and cruel stepfather. Her life is forever changed one horrifying night when she is forced to flee England for the safety of the Scottish Highlands. Rescued by a fierce band of highland warriors, Aishlinn soon learns that honorable men do exist. She finds a strength she never knew she possessed and it will be tested to the limits when she is forced to make a heart-wrenching decision…allow the English to kill those she loves, or surrender for the crime she committed.

She is everything he never knew he wanted in a woman….

As a fierce highland warrior, Duncan McEwan has survived numerous battles, bed countless women, and survived a horrific storm at sea. He has scaled mountains and even survived hand-to-claw battle with a cat-o’mountain. But none of that could have prepared him for how his life forever changed one fateful spring day when he rescued a lass from a freezing stream. He will do anything to keep her as his own and will risk everything to keep her out of the hands of the English."

This story had its grip on me from the first page. I love books that make me feel as if I'm right there with them. It's not often a book can hold my attention. Highly recommended read!

I don't understand all the great reviews. I was very disappointed with this story. I love highlander stories and this is one of the worst I've read. It starts out strong and then a third of the way in it starts going downhill. It turns into an angst filled relationship story that goes on and on. I had to keep taking breaks from reading it cuz I'd get frustrated with the nonsense of it. Hoped it would get better. It did, but not much. Won't be reading anymore highlander books by this author.

This book was okay but did get drug down with the relationship of the main characters. Would I recommend, yes but know it has its slow parts.

The story started out really good, then it became bogged down with too much description of how everyone felt. We did not need a play by play of their day. This book was about a hundred pages too long and it made the story boring. I found myself skipping pages. Something I hate to do in a book.

I just finished reading LAIDEN’S DAUGHTER and I found it an amazing Scottish romance filled with high emotions! This is the first book that I read written by Suzan Tisdale. I just love to discover a “new-to-me” author and her books and I am quite sure that I will read her next book Findley’s Lass. I saw this book on a blog, read it and I was not disappointed. It’s a great romance very well written by this author. Her Scottish story made me cry and laugh. I loved the chemistry between her two main characters Aishlinn and Duncan. As soon as I started to read, I could not put it down. Just a short view of the story: Aishlinn was a survivor of years of abuse from the men in her life and could not trust any men. After being severely beaten and almost rape, she escapes and rescued by a gentle Highlander named Duncan. She will learn to trust him and their beautiful friendship will bloom into a beautiful love story. If you are a fan of Scottish romances, then I highly recommend Ms. Tisdale’s book. It’s a great adventure to read!

4.5* I loved this book. It grab me from the very beginning and I could not put it down. Ms. Tisdale wove a beautiful story of a young woman who rose above a life threatening situation to become much stronger self-assured person with the help of a loving clan and a man who started to fall in love with her the moment he pulled her from an ice cold creek. Aishlinn and Duncan were such wonderful characters that I totally fell in love with them. Their love for each other grew though out the book and it was lovely to watch. The people around them saw it way before they did. The secondary characters were fantastic and I can not wait to read Findlay's and Wee Willies books.  I want to say thank you to my friend Kimble Rocha for recommending this series to me.
