Laminae
Set in a not-too-distant dystopian future, Laminae is a tale about a band of Gen X misfits who yearn for their pre-high-speed internet lives, and who take it upon themselves to rid America of what they see as the biggest threat to humanity and ultimately Planet Earth itself: the loss of our privacy and our intrinsic values as individuals. Together with an artificial friend and some good ole fashioned analogue sabotage and cyber-psychological warfare, they aim to take it all down.

To succeed they must figure out how to remain anonymous in a surveillance State ruled by corporations willing to do whatever it takes to silence any dissent, where everything is 'connected' and listening, reading, and watching, and where most workers are brainwashed by a substance called coollaid and cannot discern truth from marketing fictions, and good from bad.

Once the rebels start to taste success, can they figure out how to live another day? Or are they all destined to become part of the next line in the sediment, the next lamina?

About the Author

Mr. Hal London Norwell is the son of two hippies, born in the melee of the Haight-Ashbury scene. He grew up in a sleepy town on the San Francisco Peninsula, California, along with others in Generation X, who - he would argue - enjoyed the best childhoods in history. Laminae is Hal's first novel, and first attempt at capturing the absurdity of Silicon Valley. Mr. Norwell can be found foraging berries along the slopes of the Northern Cascades, Washington, or traversing a saddle along the John Muir Trail, California.
