I have never been to New Mexico, but this book took me there. Not only is Land of Enchantment (for those of you who don’t know, also the state slogan), an awesome adventure for kids and adults alike, it’s written by someone who you can tell loves and appreciates the beautiful state of New Mexico. Duncan beautifully describes the scenery with a careful brush so that you not only go along for the story but see what they are seeing as well. If you read this book, you too will want to go on your own adventure in New Mexico, and maybe follow your own path of, ‘What if?’

A New Mexico-set adventure awaits those of you who enjoy a good ride, loved The Goonies and Indiana Jones, and can appreciate a cross-generational set of characters. I URGE you to read Land of Enchantment. GREAT for young (tween, teen, young adult) folks too! I'll bet you anything that, like me, after reading you'll want to see this made this into a movie ASAP!! The writing definitely exceeded my expectations; the characters were complex, and the storyline was intriguing, fun, and believable. I very much look forward to the next by April Dawn Duncan. In the meantime, spring is here, and I foresee myself taking a road trip or 2 to check out/reacquaint with some of the locales beautifully described. Please spread the word!

Let me start off by saying I have Asperger's, so when I decide to read something, it usually needs to be a subject matter that I am interested in, because of the effort I have to put forth to enjoy reading. At first I was unsure if I would enjoy reading this book, because of subject matter, I am more of a Sci-Fi, fantasy individual, not a teen adventure book based in our reality, but a great story is a great story. Being the good brother that I am, how wonderful a person my sister is, and that I have read other works done by her, which I enjoyed greatly, I thought what the heck. So I started my journey, and found a rich, wonderful world filled with characters, dialog, adventures, and places grand in their design, and description. Not once did I question events, places, character's actions, reactions, and dialog, it felt natural, as if I was some unnoticed observer watching their lives unfold in this breathing, living world. I had no idea that my home state New Mexico had so many unique, diverse and interesting historic locations to visit. A great story-crafter never needs the reader to suspend their disbelief, because if the writer has written a well crafted story the writing will take care of that, which this writer does. So please give this wonderful book a read, because you don't know what you might be missing out on until ya give it a shot

Do you remember all those adventures you went on with Atreyu, Sebastian, and Artex, Sarah, Buttercup, and The Goonies? I can't wait until someone finds this treasure and turns into cinematic legend. This book is exhilarating, amazingly detailed and informative. What's more is all the locations Micay and Keme visit with their family on their adventure are real places in New Mexico with an imaginative Indiana Jones/National Treasure twist. I would recommend this book to all ages and walks of life. This book has something in it for everyone.
