Last Blood by Kristen Painter is great. After reading book 4 I just didn't know how she would be able to pull it all together, but she did it and it was great. I would highly recommend this series it is a great read.

I have grown to love Mal and Chrysabelle, and I was hesitant to finish this series. I am sad to see them go, but man was it worth it! If you haven't checked out this series, do yourself a favor, and do it. You won't regret it. Love, Love, Love.  Satisfying ending to an excellently captivating series.

I never downgrade my rating becasue Barnes and Noble does not give degrees of stars 4.25/5 stars  4.5/5 Stars for world building The feel of the series as it progressed as gone from riveting, with the first books, to something that resembles a family drama with the last books of the series.  I don’t honestly know how I feel now that I have finished Last Blood by Kristen Painter, depressed is a good word. That’s it, I am depressed as I adore this series, and I hate to see it come to an end. “Pouting like Lilith.” For those of you who haven’t read the series here is a series primer: The Birth of the Comarré Marked for Service Plumbing the Depth Like I said in my review of Out for Blood, I first got hooked on the series when Jeaniene Frost author of the Night Huntress series mentioned the books and author on Twitter last fall. I was very curious about the books, and because of that I bought the series, and the cat was delightfully killed.  (Did you get the joke?   Curiosity and the cat and all that.)  The series is delightful and the romance in the final book Last Blood is in full swing. These are paranormal books; the sex is off page, but Painter makes my toes curl with just a kiss or a look. In Last Blood, at times I felt the plot being rushed trying to tie up to many loose ends all in one book. Okay this might just be me being pouty, but I wish this conclusion would have gone at a faster pace. I felt there was the urgency I had come to expect in the series.   Yes, definately me being pouty. I loved that Fi was back to her fun-loving, fiesty self, which I hadn’t seen since the first book. I loved getting to the conclusion of all the twists and turns of the series. The deaths of characters upset me, and I guess I would have wanted some closure with each of these deaths. These books were always about the fight between good and evil, and yes not everyone supposedly sired by evil wore a black hat, and not everyone on the side of good wore a white hat. They all learned to be true to their own hearts and personalities. As Mal, the main male lead is a vampire and because of this supposedly inherently evil,  wasn’t capable of deep love and friendship. Then you have the Aurelian Nadira, supposedly working on the side of good, who  could not have been more like a petulant spoiled child, who wasn’t going to play if she wasn’t in charge. Yes, the lines between good and evil in some of the characters are a little blurry, especially those of the Kubai Mata. The Kubai Mata is a shadow organization that is supposed to protect humans from other natured beings.  They smacked  “big brother knows best no matter who we kill,” which got my dander up and like Creek, one of their operatives.  I never felt loyalty to the organization. Just because a person got bitten by a vamp and turned does that make a person automatically evil? I am of the world that people, even those infected by demons, are given free will, it is how you use that free will that counts. The book Last Blood is all about free will and how the characters choose to wield it.   Will they keep on the path they choose or stray and change?  Yes, I want more I want to know what type of life Damian (the lead female character, Chyrsabelle’s, brother) makes for himself. I want to delve deeper into the varcoli (shifter society) and learn more about the fate of New Orleans. There is so much more of this world that Painter had created that I want to explore.  So I hang my head still pouting and wait to see what Painter writes next, for whatever she does she has a life long reader in me.

Wow! I just finished reading this and I am practically speechless! this book was so amazing it is hard to put it into words! I read it as slow as I could to savoir each word as I knew this was the last book and I didn't want it to be over but now that it is I am filled with contentment. Kristen did an amazing job at tying the series off there were no lose ends and it all ended beautifully and with a bang!..lol In this book we pick up where we left off with Chrysabelle and Mal at odds. Chrysabelle must save or kill the man she loves to protect that which is even more important to her, a secret that not even Mal is aware of. She will do what she must to save him but if she can't she must kill him. Meanwhile the ancients now need Tatiana help for the child they stole from her is now reeking havoc on them and must be stopped. Tatiana enlists the help of Mal with the child Lilith who isn't at all what she once was. Together they embark on a perilous mission. With all hanging in the balance who will survive, who will die and will everyone stay on the same side? Who will be the one to draw Last Blood? I loved this book! I couldn't put it down! I tried my hardest to read it slowly but it was sooo hard!..lol...Fi was my favourite in this one, she always makes me laugh and in this one was no exception  Like: "sounds awesomely not awesome. Only fae would name a bar after a fairy tale. What is it, one giant tea party?" lol...she cracks me up! I really liked that we got to see more of her strong, independent and tender sides in this book as well.  Creek also had a few choice lines in this one that made me laugh out loud.  Like: "Somebody better start explaining or its going to get dusty in here."  lol...when he said that I couldn't help but laugh! Kristen is a full on genius when it comes to writing and I am blessed to call her a friend and on her amazing street team! Her work is an inspiration and I can't wait to read her next book! if you haven't gotten your copy of Last Blood make sure to order yours now!

I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC as I am on the “House Of Pain” Street Team. Let me start by saying this was my series find of last year. I haven’t been along for the ride since the beginning but after seeing the beautiful covers I just had to start reading them and I devoured the first 3 straight through and then had to pace around for months waiting for the 4th one to be released. Last Blood is the 5th and final installment in this particular series and what a story it is. I was a little nervous to start is as I knew that the end was near, there would be no open hanging cliffs this time for me to obsess over until the next one. Finally I would have some of the answers I have been waiting for and this always comes with mixed blessings. But I shouldn’t have worried. Yet again Kristen Painter takes the story in a direction I could never have seen coming in a million years and yet as I read it I cannot imagine how I ever thought the story could have gone in any other way. None of the “closure” feels forced the way it can when a series is wrapping up and yet nothing was left bugging me that I feel I missed out on. The story, as with the others is fast paced and action packed and has moments that just make you scream at the pages. Heart in throat you are with these characters in every moment, the good, the bad, and the messy. A brilliant end to an amazing series!! I can't wait to read what Kristen writes next!! V""V

Putting everyone elses lkfe in danger for her own agenda yet still managing to think shes the only one that has problems. Such a lame character.
