This was an very interesting book. After reading the description, I was hoping the book lived up to and it did as the novel straddles between comedy, drama, horror and the human condition. The story follows Lando Cooper, a struggling stand-up comedian, who is the reincarnated Hebrew and Christian God, Yahweh. Yahweh has given up his divinity and agrees to live as the human because he thinks faith is dead and people don't need God anymore. What follows is a funny, violent and sometimes heartbreaking story. Buried within the comedic talents of Lando, the author asks some pointed questions about religion--all religions from the Egyptian god Amon-Ra to Greek Gods to Hindu to the spirit gods of the American Indians. I thought the middle dragged just a bit as every two-bit ancient god was on a quest to kill Lando. I loved the interactions with Yuri, his friend and agent, and Lando's alter-dimension son, Herbert-Hasani. All in all this was a witty and clever book. I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
