[Book 2 in the "Year of the Chick" series]

What's a girl to do when she meets the Internet man of her dreams, he's better than she expected, but he lives an ocean away? And let's not forget her parents, who are trying to lock her up in arranged-marriage doom...

In this fast-paced story of culture clash and romantic pursuits, there's a big fat Indian wedding, the struggle to keep a long-distance flame alive, and an unexpected mystery man who could set a new course in motion.

All the while, our heroine abandons what was once an all-consuming man-search, which helps her remember the person she used to be, and the person she hopes to become; the history-loving nerd, the hopeless romantic, and the emerging author with dreams of ditching the corporate rat race.

This is the book of living in the moment, making the grand gesture, and putting it all on the line. This is when Romi Narindra comes alive...

"Last-Minute Love" is book two in the fictional "Year of the Chick" series. It follows closely from book one, but contains enough detail to be read as a stand-alone. Book three entitled "Never or Forever" is available now!

About the Author

[The author is guessing you don't care about where she went to school and her favourite colour and blah, blah, so below is a brief summary of writer pursuits, followed by the fun part: ways to interact and find out more about the author on an everyday basis!]

Romi Moondi is a Canadian writer who converted her blog "Year of the Chick" into novel form, and followed that with two more books in the series (and a prequel short story!). The most recent of these novels takes place in Paris, where she lived for six months in 2013 (after trading in her corporate job for an inspiration-seeking mission).

The books can be described as edgy romantic comedies, where happy endings are not a guarantee, and where less-than-glamourous moments are in good supply.

Romi also writes screenplays, and her screenplay "Best Before" made it to the semi-finals or better in eight international screenplay competitions in 2011. She's currently working on a brand new script that she's hoping to sell to those Hollywood types.

Really enjoyed this second book in the series. Made me laugh a lot more and really made me like the main character even more then the 1st book. Look forward to the 3rd book.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional or I probably imagined this, but I felt like I was reading a Mindy Kaling script, but not quite as well-written or quite as funny. There was a lot of repetition of words/phrases that grated on me as I read. Nevertheless, it did make me laugh and kept my interest. I did enjoy Romi and liked her. I will certainly purchase the third book, but only because it's set in Paris, my favorite city.

The second book in this series will have you laughing and crying all at the same time. Recommend you read this series in order. Our little hero is fighting for a life that is free of her domineering family and many of their cultural ways of life. I liked the second book even better than the first.

Loved it! Bought it right after finishing the first and treat it in a day. Loved how heart felt it was. You feel the ups and downs and are routing for the main character throughout. Bought the third one right after finishing!

Too much gratuitous swearing. Most peeps don't swear as often. Otherwise, nice clean read with a fun story line. Amazing how the character sneaks off right under snoopy vapid parent's noses. So many of us women, within all cultures, are trapped with insanely controlling parents. It was good to laugh about it.

I read the whole book in one setting! A perfect mix of romance and humor. I would love to give a hug to our Romi for following het heart despite the constraint of her culture.

So you are 30, shy, and obsessed with the internet? You aren't allowed to have a life because your parents are completely overprotective? You have to spend all of your time avoiding an arranged marriage? No wonder you have problems! I say run away and try to live your life in the here and now! And you did! This is a very amusing series of books that has an interesting point of view. The big fat Indian wedding is really funny and I loved all of the Bridezilla comments. Read this series for a long smile.

As i read the journey of Romi, I laughed until I cried at her sarcastic, humor full life. The words flowed off the page and I wondered how did she hi-jack some of my inner most thoughts for her novel? Truly inspiring and well worth a readers time. This is part two in a series, but unlike many other novels i have read, it can stand completely alone. Minor foul language that fits the circumstances, episodes of hiilarious drunkeness and a search for self realization are just three small parts of this novel.

All women, no matter their origin or culture want love and to be loved. This story shows us inside a woman's journey to find love when your culture is not exactly caring of what you want or need. Its a juggling act at best of times and with the added items in the mix, it can feel like more a extreme roller coaster ride you never should of gone on!

Thoroughly enjoyed Last Minute Love. I think it is well written as well as sweet, sad, and hilarious! So glad I'm not single, nor do I have to deal with the restrictions of a traditional Indian family. Definitely looking forward to the next in the series.
