The book,Last Standing Woman, was a opening of my eyes to what happened to the Ojibiwe in Minnesota. I learned more about my acsestors and how they have struggled and continue to struggle in this world. What I found to be most dumbfounding to me is that the Europeans left their country to leave their own oppression and came here to oppress the native people who were already here. The native people today continue to struggle with alcohol and with themselves as to who they are. After reading this book I have become more proud of who I am--a Native Woman who can accomplish anything that I strive for.
