Sturdy, reliable, and trustworthy, George Strait rolls along, unperturbed and untouched by the latest trends in mainstream country. This latest installment of hits offers plenty of the sly wit, feisty spirit, and generous heart that mark one of the most distinctive sounds in country. Young upstarts who want to know how to infuse some rock 'n' roll energy into their music ought to be parsing "Blue Clear Sky," one of the great kick-ass singles of the '90s. Would-be sensitive balladeers are directed to absorb the lessons Strait imparts on "Today My World Slipped Away." And while he may seem to be thoroughly enmeshed in Nashville's hierarchy, Strait revels in the scabrous deconstruction of the mainstream's sad state of affairs on "Murder On Music Row," a duet with Alan Jackson (a traditionalist well on his way to building a catalog as formidable and uncompromising as Strait's). Powerful and persuasive, LATEST GREATEST STRAITEST showcases the George juggernaut in all his breadth and depth. Hits collections don't get any better than this, any more than male country singers get any better than George Strait.

The song 'Murder On Music row', is the true description of where country music is headed. George Strait and Allen Jackson are the true traditional style country singers of our day and age. I have seen George 8 times and I don't think he has lost a step!
Impossible that a singer gets better with each year. But George does it. And I am not a big fan, but he is so consistent in his material that he is King of Contemporary Country.
A great collection of George Strait's best work since his box set.
