Lautner Cover in Black HD+

The synthetic leather used for this signature NOOK case has a truly distinctive look and feel. The interior is fully lined with soft sueded material in charcoal, and the 3-point clip holder makes it easy to secure and remove your NOOK HD+. The elegant tab closure, accented by the classic "n" logo, secures with the aid of a hidden magnet and also attaches to the back cover, so it's neatly out of the way while you're reading. Adding extra visual appeal is a small tack label at the bottom of the inside front cover, displaying a silver-embossed "nook" logo.

  • Dimensions: 7" x 10" x 1"

Don't be put off by the low rating of the case. One of the reviewers was complaining about the limitations of the Nook Store, not the case. I'm not sure why he posted that review here. The other anonymous one star review isn't adding to the discussion either. This case is by far the best available for the Nook HD+. There are other nice covers, but unless you like the strange, felt material that collects dust, this Lautner cover is the one for you. It feels like leather, although I believe it is vinyl. The HD+ clips firmly into the case, and the magnetic clasp works perfectly. It does add some weight to the device, but it also makes up for that in feel and protection. B&N brand cases are expensive, but worth the cost in this case. Don't waste money on those other designer cases, or the super cheap third-party offerings.

This is the best of an uninspired selection of covers for the HD+. I wanted a simple, non-flashy, lightweight cover with at least one pocket that could hold a cleaning cloth and a couple sheets of paper. Leather would have been my preference. This is really the only option that came close to my criteria. Despite their other limitations, at least the old Nook Color and Tablet models had a great selection of real leather and synthetic covers with useful pockets, etc. On the positive side, this case is fairly light in weight and does not add a whole lot of bulk to the tablet. Unlike a couple other reviewers, I have had no problem with the magnetic latch staying attached to the back when the cover is completely folded over. As an aside, I do not understand why the official B&N covers don't include an additional magnet to activate the sleep/wake function that is built into the tablet. That feature is only available, apparently, on 3rd party covers. The lack of this function is not that important to me, but why build it into the tablet if your official covers don't support it?

Since I also own a Nook Simple Touch and purchased two covers for it, I have some experience with Nook covers.  The Lautner cover for the HD+ is one of the better choices.  As other reviewers have pointed out, it is lightweight, durable and looks and feels like leather. It would be nice to  have additional features, such as the open and close technology copied from Apple's iPad covers, or, a flap to hold correspondence, or, a free Nook insignia pen.  But, there are always tradeoffs when choosing among an array of offerings.  The Lautner case is competitive with the others.

Just received my cover, for my 2 week old NOOK HD+.  I would recommend either one. Hope to get a lot of use out of it.

the yab closure does NOT adhere to the back cover, leaving it to flap up in your line of vision. when you complain, BN will send you a replacement which will also have a tab flapping in the wind. it will close with a magnet and it feels good in your hands.

The apps leave a lot to be desired. More variety, better selection, gps apps sorely needed. The 30 pin connector is too loose and comes out way too easily I bought the new Nook HD+ as I thought there would be better and more apps but sadly I was gravely dissapointed. Needless to say this is my last purchase of a NOOK product unless you can DRASTICALLY improve its performance Robert McCoy (540) 560-9992
