This volume, aimed specifically at developers and marketers of application software, covers two important legal areas: protection of rights to the software (by copyright, patent, etc.), and protection from liability that might arise from use of the software. The coverage is excellent, and the author (an attorney) does a wonderful job of making computer and legal jargon understandable. Frequent cross-references, charts, sample agreements, and a good index all combine to make this a valuable reference. Although the intended audience is clear (those dealing with application software that is not mass-marketed), this is a useful legal source for persons in all areas of the software industry.
