Good start to an exciting series Having already read Volumes 2 & 3 (with some difficulty regarding continuity), it is rewarding to read the first volume and see how things started and developed. Lazarus refers to Forever, part of the Carlyle family that dominate grain production in the USA in this collection about a possible future: there are the dominant families, serfs and waste – those who are neither family nor serfs. There is rivalry between the dominant families with bloodshed spilt but the Carlyle family is split and conspiracies abound. All is not as it seems – especially regarding Forever's existence. Flashbacks give us more information about her “creation”. Engaging stuff, well worth a look and highly recommended.
I hadn't heard much about this except that its good. After reading this, it was interesting, dark and fast paced. Also that art style. Good volume.
Great read I cannot wait until the third volume comes out. Excellent story so far.
This was only my fourth graphic novel I have read ever, but when I saw the word dystopian how could I refuse? I am really glad that I grabbed this. I needed something new and fresh and this did the trick to get me out of a slump I was in. I thought the graphic world was vivid and realistic. I was sucked in by all the characters and kept picturing this as a movie in my head. I felt tension, greed, lust, and aggressive pour out of the graphics in his novel. I couldn't stop turning the pages and I even sucked in my breath a few times. I don't claim to be a comic expert at all--but I am finding that I appreciate the graphic novels very much when I find ones I like. I get so absorbed with the combination of past paced story and art that it is the perfect day read when I need something different in my reading palette. If you are into graphic novels I highly recommend this one! It will leave you on the edge of your seat and begging for more! *I received a copy of this graphic novel from Diamond Book Distributors via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
