A journalist, a jewel thief, and a Russian spy…when their paths cross, it’s murder.

Journalist Emmeline Kirby hasn’t laid eyes on her former lover Gregory Longdon, a jewel thief, in two years. But she literally tumbles into his arms, after she witnesses two men attempt to murder her friend and fellow journalist, Charles Latimer, in Venice.

When Charles is ultimately killed, Emmeline is determined to bring his murderer to justice. But as she and Gregory delve deeper, they become ensnared in a hunt for a Russian spy in the British Foreign Office, who has his sights set on keeping his identity a secret at all costs—as Charles found out too late.

Incredibly well written mystery, with a complex plot. So many layers to keep the reader guessing. It is fast paced, well described and I personally like the tension between Longdon and Kirby. They are multi-faceted characters that make you want to keep reading even after the book is done. Hemingway meets Dan Brown that takes a spin around the ball room with Audrey Hepburn (Roman Holiday Style). If you like intrigue with intelligence, Daniella Bernett checks all the boxes with Lead Me Into Danger.

Just finished reading this wonderful new writer's, first two books (Lead Me Into Danger and Deadly Legacy) – back-to-back - couldn’t put them down - really got my attention with the first and and hooked me with the second - I can’t wait for her next book (From Beyond The Grave). Ms Bernett gives the reader intrigue, mystery, murder, romance, heartache (not to mention well-developed, rich, characters - even Gran's dog MacTavish has an endearing personality all his own - taking us on a beautifully descriptive journey to far off places) and leaves you waiting anxiously for the next book in the series to see what's next for Emmeline and Gregory! I’ve been an avid reader most of my life (a book every week or so is a lot of books and authors); so, finding a new writer that I’m enjoying this much is exciting and a gift!

Lead Me Into Danger is the debut novel for this author and she has done a fabulous job! This murder mystery has twists and turns in every chapter. I quickly learned not to trust anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed the settings in England and Venice. I have never been to these places, but I felt like I could picture it from the descriptions. The characters are realistic and likeable, although I would have liked to have known what Emmeline was thinking more often. She is a fascinating character with an interesting past and a strong-willed personality. The last third of the book moved so fast, I read it in one sitting. I won't give away the ending, but I will just say it kept me guessing until the very end. I look forward to more adventures with Emmeline and Gregory as I hear that there is a sequel in the making!

I was hooked from the first page in this intriguing mystery from the new author Daniella Bernett. A journalist and jewel thief are not your typical sleuths but Emmeline and Gregory made a smart and sophisticated team. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast paced action and got lost in the beautiful settings and fascinating characters. It kept me guessing till the end. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves mysteries. I can’t wait for the next book.
