Leader of the Pack by Roxanne St. Claire

The Dogfather is a brand new contemporary romance series from New York Times bestselling author Roxanne St. Claire celebrating what she loves most: hot guys, great dogs, big families...and true love. And a portion of the proceeds from every book in the series will be donated to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in the author's home state of Florida!

Leader of the Pack - Book Three in The Dogfather Series
Very few things ruffle K-9 trainer Liam Kilcannon. Stoic and steady, he has the patience and skill to transform a harmless puppy into a highly protective "schutzhund," and the quiet strength to lead his five younger siblings through the storms of life. A former Marine who doesn't waste words or squander emotions, Liam is also a man who very much wanted to spend his life with one special woman by his side. He found her... and lost her. And Liam won't ever let himself slide down the Andi Rivers Slippery Slope to Misery again. But when his father tells him Andi's house has been broken into, he doesn't hesitate to offer her his beloved protection dog, a decision that will put them in close and constant contact.
Architect and single mom Andi Rivers knows nothing in life is certain, having first-hand experience with unexpected changes and tragedies that upended her world. Determined to protect her deeply shy little boy from another heartache, she's vowed to stay single and unattached no matter how long and lonely her nights might be. Hesitant to take Liam's dog at first, she soon changes her mind when an estranged relative launches a campaign to take custody of little Christian. A dog won't be enough...Andi needs a family to protect her son. When the Kilcannon clan moves into action, the solution they offer is drastic but perfect. Liam and Jag are there to protect Andi's home and child...but what will protect their hearts from the risk of falling in love – and failing – one last time?
The Dogfather Series
Daniel Kilcannon is known as "The Dogfather" for a reason. It's not just his renowned skills as a veterinarian, his tremendous love of dogs, or the fact that he has turned his homestead in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains into a world class dog training and rescue facility. Just ask his six grown children who run Waterford Farm for him, and they'll tell you that their father's nickname is due to his uncanny ability to pull a few strings to get what he wants. And what he wants is for his four sons and two daughters to find the kind of life-changing love he had with his dearly departed wife, Annie. This old dog has a few new tricks...and he'll use them to see his pack all settled into their happily ever afters!

Watch for the whole series coming in 2017 and 2018!

Roxanne St. Claire is FREAKING AWESOME! Each Book with Each Series just keeps getting better and better. This book in particular has it all. I laughed, sighed, cried and loved. Leader of the Pack is book 3 of the Dogfather Series and if you love Mature Men who know what they want, Independent Women, Children and Dogs and even the Bee Gees then this one is for you. Andi and Liam's story is full of wonderful characters, a plot that is so life like, a second chance romance with a HEA. There is no cliff hangers, no cheating, no drama and angst. This is a stand alone novel and these books do not have to be read in order. Sit down, read and fall in love....

Roxanne St. Claire has done it again! I LOVE the Leader of the Pack! It might truly be my favorite book! It is such a poignant and bittersweet love story. I love a great love story. I love the Kilcannon family and Bitter Bark, NC. Leader of the Pack is Liam Kilcannon's story, the oldest Kilcannon, at almost forty years old, he is the leader of the pack. Liam is a former Marine, and current K-9 trainer at Waterford. Liam has been in love with Andrea (Andi) Rivers from the moment he saw her and dated her three years ago. At the time the father of Andi's young son, Christian, wanted to be part of his life. And I felt that it was only right to give a life with Jefferson (Jeff) Scott a chance. One year later, Jeff dies in a car accident and Andi decides to on,y be 100% committed to raising her son as a single mother. Fast forward two years, Jeff's mother, Nadine died and left Christian a trust fund worth six million dollars. Jeff's sister, Nora is going to battle Andi for full custody of Christian claiming she is an unfit mother, so she can control the trust fund. Daniel Kilcannon, "The Dogfather" comes up with a solution, Andi can marry Liam, whom he has not so secretly been trying to get together. Once the threat of the custody battle has been resolved, Andi and Liam can have their marriage annulled. The surprise wedding can take place after the engagement party for Jessie and Garrett and Chloe and Shane. Just when I thought that Andi and Liam would live happily ever after with Christian and Jag, the German Shepherd, Rocki throws in a surprise major plot twist. Who doesn't love a surprise plot twist! The plot twist gets resolved, and they get their happily ever after. Cannot wait to read Molly's story next!

Entertaining, exciting, action packed, sweetly sexy second chance romance with a small twist of mystery. Loved all the family banding together to help protect and stop the danger. K-9 trainer Liam Kilcannon is the quiet, strong, driven and emotionally hidden alpha make type. His family jokes he loves dogs more than people. Architect and single mom Andi Rivers is sweet, sassy and in need of protection for her 6 year old son from a greedy family member that wants to take him for the inheritance. She is also the only woman Liam thought once upon a time was his one true love until she broke his heart years ago leaving him for the father of her son. Perfectly engaging and captivating reading.

Such a beautiful story of love and forgiveness and the slippery slope of falling and rising to the occasion. Liam is nearly 40 and he has been caught in the web of Andi since they met and even though they only dated for a month before her child's father came back he still knew she was the only one for him. Andi was never in love with Christian's father and when he died Christian was devastated so she devoted her life to her son. That is no life for a mother but she was determined to live that way. Until the day someone decided they were going to take her son away from her. The Kilcannon family surround her and Liam steps up and no one is going to get close to her and Christian. With the help of them and Jag some safety is brought to her life...for a while. But can she kept her heart out of it? This was such a wonderful story and I dare you to not fall in love with Liam too! (and Jag) **Received this ARC for review**

Leader of the Pack is book 3 in the Dogfather Series. It can be a stand alone but I highly recommend you read them in order as it a series about a family and you catch up/revisit with members of the family in each book. I think you'll get more enjoyment overall with the series. Liam Kilcannon is a K-9 Trainer who in the past was getting attached to single mom Andi Rivers when her son's dad shows back into her life and she chose to give him another chance. They reconnect when her deceased son's father's sister shows up in her life threatening her life with her son, Christian. What I loved about this book is not only did Andi and Christian get Liam and his K-9 Jag for protection they got the whole Kilcannon clan. Liam would love to have a future with Andi and her son but Andi only wants a 'no strings' attach affair. Kudos to Liam for not settling even though he fights the sexual attraction not to give in. This book a dog, a little boy, sexy protective man, intrigue and suspense. What else could you want. This book has the overall 'feel good' vibe to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend not only this book but the whole series!

Such a great book in the Dogfather series. Liam is the most closed off of Daniel Kilcannon's children. He has loved a woman who he lost. Now this woman now in danger. I love this series and the fact that a portion of the proceeds go to an animal refuge adds to my love of this author!!

Roxanne St. Claire’s latest Dogfather book, Leader of the Pack, brings us the story of the oldest Kilcannon, Liam. Another older hero! Huzzah! With Liam’s story, St. Claire gives us insight into the Dogfather himself’s love story with his beloved Annie. Hint: things were not as idyllic as they seemed, at least not in the beginning. Liam has spent his life taking care of others and now trains dogs to do the same. Not surprisingly, he meets his match in architect Andrea Rivers, who is convinced she doesn’t need anyone. The push / pull between Andi and Liam is fun to watch. Liam wears her down, just by paying attention and listening; something Andi doesn’t quite know what to do with. Lovers of St. Claire’s suspense will enjoy the mystery that unfolds towards the end. I’m not sure which part of this book I loved the best. I think perhaps the sum of all the parts which makes the perfect whole. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

I've adored each of the books in The Dogfather series so far. I honestly love each family member in the Kilcannon clan, but have extra special love for the Dogfather, Daniel. I love how he is set on finding mates for each of his children and was so glad to get Liam's story with Leader of the Pack. I loved every single thing about Leader of the Pack. I loved that Liam is so much like his dad that he knew as soon as he met Andi three years ago; she was the woman for him. Andi and Liam had the best chemistry and I loved that Liam really had waited around for Andi. While the reason they started seeing each other again wasn't ideal, her house being broken into and needing protection, I loved that Liam stepped up in every way possible. He was so sweet to teach Andi's son Christian how to handle Jag, the guard dog Liam brings to help keep both Andi and Christian safe. I have to say I adored watching Christian come out of his shell the more time he trained with and was around Jag. I somewhat understood Andi's hesitancy to have a man in her life after her ex had left her life and his loss had been so huge for their son Christian. However, I also knew she was so attracted to Liam and I didn't get her not being happy just to protect her son. I love that Liam connected so well with Christian through Jag and loved watching Liam, Andi, and Christian move towards being a real family. I also loved seeing Liam and Andi connecting on every level and becoming a real couple. Seriously Liam and his love for Andi and Christian was so freaking sexy. There were several twists and turns along the way in Leader of the Pack. Some I saw coming, others I didn't. I loved how protective Liam was of both Andi and Christian. I also loved that Christian had Jag to protect him at all times. I felt so many emotions along with the characters as I read Leader of the Pack and I loved every single minute of the story. Leader of the Pack is another winner in the Dogfather series from Roxanne St. Claire. The romance between Andi and Liam was beautiful to see grow into a real relationship. I also loved watching Andi, Christian, and Liam become a real family. I also loved all the time we got to spend with the Kilcannon clan. I fall more and more in love with this family with each new book in the series. Ms. St. Claire once again gives her readers an amazing romance that will keep her readers coming back for more. Rating: 5 Stars (A+)

I loved Leader of the Pack by Roxanne St.Claire even though it tugged at my heartstrings. Again a perfect title for this wonderful and emotional story, but it doesn’t quite describe what you might expect. This is the third book in her Dogfather series but each book is a stand long read. This is Liam Kilcannon and Andi Rivers’ story. Liam is the oldest, a former marine, where he trained dogs and he now continues training K-9 dogs. Andi Rivers is an architect and single mom who is hesitant to open her heart to a man. However, when Andi needs help protecting her son the Kilcannon family jumps at the chance to help them. Yet, Andi is very unsure of opening her heart to Liam and falling in love while Liam is afraid to let himself slide down the Andi Rivers Slippery Slope to Misery again. These two need to learn to trust and love each other. I loved Andi’s son, Christian, a mini-Liam, shy, quiet and inquisitive. I truly loved reading this book. Ms. St. Claire is a wonderful story teller and she seems to always draw me into her books, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next entry in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

“I’ll never forget him (the leader of the pack.) “ Roxanne St. Claire’s newest addition to the Dogfather series reminds readers of the 1964 hit song by the Shangri-Las “Leader of the pack.” Like the song, the main characters – Liam, Andi and Christian are hard to forget. The story is woven with an authentic portrayal of a man and a child who are introverts and prefer dogs over people. “Liam knew that life, family and the love of a few good dogs rounded out those introverted edges eventually….” “S’okay. I like dogs… Oh well, I don’t like people….” (Christian) It’s hard to convey just how much I liked this book. The characters were extremely well-developed. The feelings and actions of the characters especially the main characters Liam, Andi. and Christian were on-target and sincerely portrayed. The strength of family is strongly presented by the extended Kilcannon family. An added bonus to the story was the revelation of Daniel and Annie Kilcannon’s engagement and wedding. Dog lovers especially those who love the relationship of a child and a special dog, will thoroughly immerse themselves in this one.

This is book three of Roxanne St. Claire’s Dogfather Series, the story of the Kilcannon family’s oldest son, Liam, and the woman he has loved for three years, Andi. Liam, a former Marine, is the K-9 trainer at the family business, Waterford Farm in Bitter Bark, NC. He’s formed an attachment to his trainee, Jag, a German Shepherd intended for a place in law enforcement and has a hard time letting him go claiming he’s just not ready yet. Andi is an architect working in Bitter Bark, NC. for the town’s new tourism program and helping local businesses to make improvements. She dated Liam briefly three years ago but ended the relationship after a month when her son’s father returned to town. She felt it was best for her 6 year old son, Christian, to have his dad in his life. Even though she didn’t love him, they lived together for their son’s sake. Two years after Christian’s father was killed in a car accident, someone broke into her home and Liam thought it would be a good idea to loan her his dog, Jag. It wasn’t long before Christian and Jag bonded and once again, Liam was in her life. Except she didn’t want another relationship that may end and leave Christian feeling abandoned again. She told herself it was best for her son but found it hard to resist Liam. When her past came calling and threatened to take her son, she allowed Liam back into her life...with certain conditions. I really enjoyed this book and found Liam one heck of a great guy. I liked Andi but found her to be over the top protective of her son, which I understand, but thought she needed to loosen up and let Liam into her life instead of pushing him away while wanting him at the same time. My favorite guy was Christian. Smart and inquisitive, he is the highlight of this book. I recommend Leader of the Pack as I do the whole series, especially for all you dog lovers. This is an outstanding series that you will love. Cover photos of this series are not models, but real life guys with their rescues. A portion of the proceeds from the first month’s sales of each book go to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in Roxanne’s home state of Florida. Win-win for readers and pups.

What a sweet, romantic, delicious, funny and cute book this is! "Leader of the Pack" is #3 in The Dogfather series and it presents the readers with a cute couple, in whick my dear Liam is the main male character. Since book 1 I was curious about this Kilcannon character and longed for his story. I love Liam! He's introvert but in a sweet way and I adore his attitude. Andy is perfect for him, no doubt but I'll admit I had some rough time with her at the beginning because she had that way of wanting only sex but nothing more from Liam and Liam suffered because he loved Andy and lost her before for the father of her child and I hated seeing Liam suffer more. But everything got on track and I made my peace with Andy. Christian, Andy's son and Jag, Liam's dog, were the sweetest part of this book. It was such a joy to see these two getting along! Close to the end Roxanne St. Claire included a bit of action that was so thrilling! It was quite unexpected. I was very anxious for Liam's book, yes I was, but the next book, Molly's, promises to be a great emotion and I'm anxious to read it.

Loved this story of Liam and Andi. Andi broke Liam's heart once but is she willing let him Liam in again. Andi needs protection from her deceased son's father's family so the Kilcannon family offers Jag, the fierce dog the Liam has trained but is it enough to keep them safe. A heartfelt romance, with the love of the Kilcannon family, a boy with his best friend, Jag and a little suspense will keep you turning the pages. My favorite quote that ties the whole book together, "Once they find their fated mate, they won't settle for less". I highly recommend this book along with the rest of the Dogfather books. All stand alone but all involve the Kilcannon Clan, love them!!

Leader of the Pack by Roxanne St Claire Oh no! A nasty, selfish woman threatens to take away Andi's son. Because of a huge trust fund! That was my reaction when reading this remarkable contemporary romance. We can't have bad things happen in a romance! But of course, as in real life, unexpected complications occur. The best thing about romance fiction? You know the happy ever after will be strong and promising. And it's so worth it here. I admit, once or twice I was impatient with Andi, the heroine. She's turning him down again? Such agony and heartbreak for the hero! But oh, after a few tears, and craziness this book became the "ahhh, sigh" romance moment. I can't wait for the next one! I Love this author's delivery, and emotional enheartening. The below is from the six year old Christian - he has an idea. Jag is his dog. Excerpt: “I have an idea!” They threw a glance at each other, both aware that she’d just asked Liam for an idea, but he had a feeling Christian’s wasn’t going to help them. “What is it?” she asked. “You two should get married!” They both stared in stunned, shocked silence. “Then Jag would never leave!” He beamed at them, throwing up two hands like it was so obvious, how did these two clueless adults not see that? “Married.” Andi croaked the word and turned to Liam, her color high. “Imagine that.” Liam had. Every damn day since he met her. “I think that’s the best idea I’ve heard in a long time,” he said. “Yay!” Christian made a wobbly little turn and smacked right into Jag, giving him a huge hug. “It was Jag’s idea, really. He never wants to leave.” Off the two of them went, leaving Andi and Liam speechless.” Excerpt From: Roxanne St. Claire. “Leader of the Pack"

Ex-marine Liam Kilcannon is the eldest out of the six Kilcannon children. He specializes in training German Shepherds for high-protection guard dogs. Liam offers his dog-trainee Jag when he hears about the break-in at Andi River’s home. When Andi’s problems become even more serious, he steps forward to help her. Liam hates the sham his family cooked up to protect Andi and her six-year-old son. Can Liam convince Andi to take a chance with them as a couple? Or will other circumstances stand in their way? Andrea “Andi” River owns an architectural firm in Bitter Bark, North Carolina. She also teaches an adult-education class on European architecture at a local college. Andi’s world is turned upside down when her deceased boyfriend’s sister appears at her door and threatens to obtain custody of her six-year-old son. Andrea runs to the only people in Bitter Bark who can help with her dilemma, the Kilcannons. Liam’s father, The Dogfather, proposes a marriage to thwart the custody scheme. Will Liam and Andi’s charade become truth? Or will Andi’s ex-boyfriend’s shady past disrupt any possibility of a happy future? Liam is every woman’s dream. He is a man who says much with few words. Others see his silence as antisocial, which is very far off the mark. Liam is the very epitome of the idiom “still waters run deep”. He feels more at ease near and around dogs than people. However, I adore the patience Liam shows to Andi’s six-year-old son Christian, recognizing some of his issues in the boy. I like how Christian always comes first to him, no matter the situation. However, what I love the most about Liam is his silent perseverance with Andi, waiting for her feelings for them as a couple to blossom. Andi is a hard-working single mother who fully commits to her son. I admire the sacrifices she makes for Christian’s sake, even forgoing her own wants and needs. Occasionally, I did want to throttle Andi for not accepting a terrific man, who pretty much shows his love with actions. Yet, I can understand her hesitation. A mother’s worry and concern for her child is an instinct no woman can turn off. I like how Andi knew the right person and family to run to when trouble arose. LEADER OF THE PACK is book three in Roxanne St. Claire’s charming, canine-oriented contemporary series, THE DOGFATHER. Foremost, I love that a dachshund is mentioned in the story, even though its part is small. I adore the sweet friendship that crops up between Jag and Christian. The German Shepherd and his six-year-old human make the story complete, especially how he coaxes Christian out of his shy shell. LEADER OF THE PACK is an emotive and heartwarming story of two people receiving another chance at having their happily-ever-after. I cannot wait for the next Kilcannon to find their matrimonial match in the upcoming book. -Review courtesy of Romance Junkies

At almost 40 years old, Liam Kilcannon is the oldest child of Daniel Kilcannon. Liam is a former marine who now handles the K-9 training of the dogs at Waterford Farm, along with the elite schutzhund training. The family has always joked that Liam likes dogs better than people! Liam doesn't show much emotions and the one time he let his walls down and thought he found "the one", his heart was crushed into a million pieces when she left him for the father of her son who recently showed back up. Andi Rivers was falling in love with Liam when all of a sudden Jeff Scott, the father of her son, came back into their lives wanting to be a father. Even though Andi was never in love with Jeff, she decided to give him a chance. Now it has been two years since Jeff was killed in a car accident and Andi has her sights on Liam. Being a single, working mom, Andi is just looking for some "fun" time, but when Liam realizes that is all that Andi wants he turns her down because he really wants more....MUCH more. Andi's afraid to bring another man into her 6 year old son Christian's life because he was so affected when he lost his father that she couldn't bear her son going through that hurt again. When someone breaks into Andi's house, Daniel Kilcannon "Dogfather's" his way into getting Liam to convince Andi that she needs a dog for protection. Liam's current trainee, Jag would be perfect. Jag hasn't quite reached full schutzhund level training but he is close and he would be perfect for the job. When an estranged relative shows up, informing Andi that Christian will be inheriting 6 million dollars because Jeff's mother has passed away, the relative also informs Andi that she will be fighting for adoption of the child. This bit of news spooks Andi to the point that she looks to Liam for help. This is where the fun begins!!!!! The entire Kilcannon group bands together in their over-the-top, laugh out loud ways and by the end of their plan, it looks like Andi and Liam are going to get married because it would help the adoption case. Of course, Liam would do anything for Andi, even going so far as to pretend to be in love wanting to quickly get married. As Liam and Andi start to spend more time together, the pretending doesn't seem so hard anymore. When danger starts lurking around Andi's house, Liam and Jag are at the ready. It was really interesting to see how these types of dogs are trained to behave. After a great "didn't see that one coming" reveal, all hell breaks loose. This was such a great romance of second chances with a really great little mystery added in. I really liked Andi. She was such a hard working, single mom that you just couldn't help but wish that her and Liam get back together. And I really just adored Liam. He was one of these quiet, silent types who you think really don't have many emotions, but you quickly realize that he is just exploding with emotions. The scene with his dad in his dad's bedroom was sooooo emotional and I just loved it. Overall another awesome story with such a great, fun family!

I love Liam because he is so patient and steadfast. I wasn't so crazy about Andi at first, but by the end of the book, I really liked her. Liam has loved Andi since he first met her. He thought they were moving toward something great when she told him that she was going to get back together with her son's father. Liam being who he is, he stepped aside. Now that her son's father is dead, he has left her alone to mourn, but he really wants her back. She however, only wants a physical relationship because she wants to concentrate on her son and his needs. But, when her son is threatened, she turns to the Kilcannons for help. The Dogfather is only too happy to have Liam help her.
