The League of Freaks and the Secret Key by Alberto Hazan

Embrace your differences.

That's what Shree Mandvi's father is always telling her.

If only he knew just how different she really is.

Being a teenage girl from the Bronx is not what makes Shree stand out at her new private school in Cambridge-it's her ability to turn into a bee. She'll need her newfound powers, though, when she discovers a map-filled book from the 1600s claiming that there's a mysterious key-and hidden treasure-lost somewhere under the campus of Harvard University.

With the help of four freaky new friends, each with their own secret powers, Shree must race to solve an ancient riddle. If she succeeds, she will unlock the final door.

But first, she must summon her powers in time to save herself and her friends.

The dialogue this book started with my daughter and I is wonderful. Some of the language was 'strong' but realistic to the situations. Some of The bully situations made my daughter and I both cry. We laughed too at other parts. Great story! Reccomending to all! Hope for additional books in this series

This is by far the best book i have read in the nook so far. It is an awesome story for older kids. It has some pretty extreme bullying in it and the kids have some cool powers that i wish i had...

Loved it... I put off reading this because it looked boring and had only gotten it because it was free and had good reviews. No kidding, this was a great book!!! I can't believe that it was free! In the reviews many people talked about bad language, well, there was relitively strong words but nothing you wouldn't walk into your local middle or high school and hear. This language was used at very appropriate times. Any way.. Basicaly all I am saying is that it was a book that should have cost 10 dollars but was free! If your still hesitating... why not give it a try? What do you have to lose???!

I love this book. At first i thought it was some stupid old cheesy book, but boy was i wrong! Its a perfect book for kids and its totally worth the money( free) actually its worth way MORE than the money. Except for a few swears (the h word) i loved the book. By the way after i bought this book, i tried searching it on the nook shop search to see if there was a sequel(cause this was so awesome), but it wouldnt come up! The spelling was correct too. Then i tried searching the authors name, but there were no results matching my search! Wierd.

Enchanting novel with realistic teen characters faced with problems a normal teen deal with everyday: however when you add a quest and superpowers, it gets downright fun. Good read for teens, mature pre-teens and adults alike.

I enjoyed reading The League of Freaks and the Secret Key because it has a good plot and the characters are are somewhat humourous. Also, my favorite part was when Shree ans Elanor set the tanning timer for a lot longer, and then the next day, their enimies, Colleen and Katherine, who were in the tanning spa walk into class burned and bright red. I would reccomend this book to many friends. Read it today!
