About the Author

Eleanor Longden is a postgraduate researcher with a specialty in psychosis, trauma, self-injury, and dissociation, particularly in terms of promoting creative, person-centered approaches that emphasize the lived experience and expertise of clients. After working for five years in an Early Intervention in Psychosis service in the U.K., she now does full-time research and training and has lectured and published worldwide on different ways of understanding and recovering from emotional distress. She is coordinator of the Intervoice Scientific Committee, trustee of Intervoice and the U.K. Soteria Network, an honorary member of the French Hearing Voices Network, and a faculty member of the International Centre for Recovery Action in Practice, Education, and Research (ICRA). In 2013 she joined the International DSM-5 Response Committee, which promotes an organized, critical response to the process of psychiatric diagnosis.
