Being alive and living are not always the same.

Trudy Love is used to being on her own and has rarely been shown affection. Between growing up in foster care and her abusive boyfriend she has no idea what life can be. At 19 she goes through something no one should ever experience and is left alone once again. Six months later she moves to Mobile, Alabama where she meets someone whose eyes bring back memories of the one person she misses everyday. Too late she finds herself caught in a storm of emotions that are unwanted, but she's determined to fight them off.

Jaxon Coleman has a good life, and for him to attend one of the finest Med schools in the country and follow in his dad's foot steps is a dream come true. However, dreams can change in life and when he meets Trudy he knows his will never be the same. Jax knows she has secrets she is unwilling to share, but he's never given up on something he wants and he wants Tru.

Can Trudy stop resisting her feelings and welcome the chance to live a different life than she pictured or will her defiance and haunted past eventually take her out of Jax's reach?

After tragedy living is not easy, but with the right person it can be learned.

About the Author

I live in Alabama and grew up an army brat. My family traveled a lot until we finally settled down along the Gulf Coast when I was 4. My husband is 9 years younger so I guess that makes me a COUGAR. I have a 9 yr old little girl who's blind as well as autistic. My life is not boring with them two in it. Believe me.
I've always loved creating and I would constantly draw on my walls. My two hobbies growing up were painting and reading. Writing is something I wanted to do but didn't think I could, until I woke up at three a.m. a few months back and started.
After that, the story took over. Even though some pieces of my life experience are within it, it is Tru and Jax's story now. I have truly fell in love with this story and hope you all do too.

The thing I loved about this book was the fact that the author used both characters point of view. With each chapter we get to see the complete picture. We get to see what both are thinking and feeling with every turn of the page. The prologue of this book is very intense so it may be hard to read for some people, I would suggest 18 yrs or older. Once you get past what, Trudy goes through in those pages, you begin to see her new life begin as she picks up the pieces and moves to start her new life. What she has undergone is definitely tragic and it would be very difficult to open up to new people. When she gets to school, she meets her bathroom mate Jazz. Jazz becomes fast friends with Trudy. I loved Jazz's character. She looks over Trudy, she gets her out there to meet new people. She's very bouncy and full of energy. Jazz treats Trudy like a sister.  Jax bumps into Trudy on campus. He knows right away that she's the girl for him. He takes his time pursuing her. Once he finds out his sister is friends with her, it makes it easier for him to get to know more about her. I loved Jax's character because even though he comes from a family of money, he is not cocky, he's very kind, generous and giving. He wants Trudy to have everything she wants. You'll also meet Ashton the ex-girlfriend. I'll let you make your own assumption about her.  You'll meet some of Jax's frat brothers. David is a womanizer, looking for a new woman wherever he goes, and mason is a computer geek who is shy in social situations.  You will also get to meet Jax and Jazz's family. They are open, warm and loving.  This is a book that keeps you going with every turn of the page. I can't wait for book 2 Jazz's story. I give this book a 5 star rating because this author shows us that during your most difficult times and it seems that it can't get any worse, you can learn to live again.

She was one day too late. It has always been the case. If she only found the strength to go out the door – she would have saved herself and the only person that mattered to her. But no. She gave it one more day. Little did she know that delaying her plans would cost her dearly. Trudy Love had been through hell, and experienced a deep sense of loss that nothing or no one could ever replace. She had jumped from one foster home to another, and ended up with an abusive boyfriend who likes to get high. At 19, she had experienced how painful life can be. After six months, she decided to get on with her life and finally moved somewhere else: Mobile, Alabama. Eager to start anew, and not to draw attention from anyone, but on the first day of school, she had already got attention from a lot of people, and a person whose eyes reminds her much of the one person she longed for daily. She tries to fight the attraction and the emotion off, she was here to heal, to forget, to start – having a relationship was not in her priorities. Jaxon Coleman is filthy rich, but down to earth. He might afford anything and everything, but he only wants one thing – and this one can’t be bought and he was having a hard time catching her as well. All he wanted to do was to finish med school and follow his father’s footsteps, until he bump into Trudy. One look at her and he knew this person is broken and has a lot of secrets to share, but he was determined to have her, and he would have her. He would have his Tru Love. They were perfectly fine until her past came back to haunt her. They were too different, yet meant to be together. While Jax had experienced a perfect life, Trudy experienced the opposite – but it didn’t matter to him. This is why I love his character the most - despite his wealth, he is very humble, down-to-earth and a giving person. He protects what is his and it didn’t hurt that this guy is intelligent and hot. He is quite a catch. I also understand why Trudy tried to fight off her feelings – but I was glad that she decided to share that secret part of herself to Jax before involving herself with him. Did I tell you I adore her tattoo as well? It was so beautiful and meaningful. Some of the pages of the book were marked by it. The story wasn’t dragged (thank goodness), the characters were just interesting (not just the lead characters): I adore Jazz, and more so David. They have the perfect family, different but perfect. R.D. Cole had written a story so compelling it was so hard to put down. The journey that Trudy and Jax had taken wasn’t perfect – but the whole ride was worth it. My first R.D. Cole novel and I was hooked. Spent a day in bed lying around and finishing the two in one day – considering how the first book end, good thing I have the second book and I just have to read it immediately. It ended with a very surprising twist that had my jaws dropping.  "I just want you to know that whatever happens in life helps us make who we’re meant to be and leads us to people we’re meant to meet." ¿Complimentary Copy was given in exchange for an honest review.¿

I really liked the storyline, the only problem I had was the characters did & said things that were too old for a 19-21 year old I thought, so I felt a little weird reading parts! 230+ pages **Explicit Sexual Parts, Situations & Foul Language**

Well, right off the bat... I'll say I thought the leading ladies name was a bit silly.. But I quickly got over it.  Jax, our leading man, is pretty awesome. I liked him a whole lot. He was very tender with Tru when she needed it.  I felt like there was a few gaps in the plot though or quick changing attitudes that left me a bit lost or confused at times.. but over all, a good read about surviving a rough childhood. Crappy early years can make you stronger and better person and I think that came through a lot with Tru..  We have some battles along the way and it's nice to read as she develops into a stronger woman.  Can't wait to read the next one. 3.5 Stars out of 5.

Oh this was such a great book! The story flowed nicely and I really felt immersed in the lives of Jax and Tru. I was so engrossed that I skipped lunch and didn’t get up from reading until I had finished the whole book.  Jaxon is the whole package. Not only does he surf and has a stellar body but he’s in school to be a doctor, treats women with respect, is selfless, caring, and so sweet! He knows that he wants Trudy from the very beginning. He welcomes her into his life, family, and friends.  Trudy is a remarkable person. She has had to deal with so much in her life. Yet she is strong, independent, knows how to defend herself, smart, and driven. She has trust issues for obvious reasons but works to better herself. The supporting secondary characters were excellent too. Jax’s whole family were awesome! I really felt like they were actual people with depth and stories of their own.  This was an excellent book full of heartbreak, tragedy, love, friendship, and growing. It was a really great romance with some nice steamy scenes. I give this book a 5 out of 5 and can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
