Sam Coalson, ex-Navy SEAL, has returned to Grafton for the wedding of his brother. After being run out of town fifteen years ago for a crime he didn't commit, he's determined to claim what is rightfully his and take on anyone crazy enough to try and stop him.
Angel Devereaux is smart, sexy and definitely on Sam's blacklist. After siding with Sam's enemy fifteen years ago, Angel can't help but wonder what if….what if Sam had never left? What if he could forgive her now? She had her reasons, but he won't listen. So enough with words, sometimes action is exactly what's called for.

Sam and Angel were high school sweethearts, well under cover of course. Angel finds out just how ruthless her father is but looses Sam in the process. The battle of wills and the love she has for this stubborn man is the backdrop of the story but of course this author has more than the romance going on in this story. There's action and blackmail and lives loss and soo much more that will have you turning the pages to find the answers. This standalone romance also has an underlying story. Someone is after Mac and now Sam. In order to get to them they are going after everyone they hold dear. This family has plenty of connections but who knows if that will be enough to catch this person who has outwitted them all so far. Great suspense and passionate love round out this story nicely.
My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: Big, blonde and handsome, he reminded Angel of a Golden Adonis. Angel bit the inside of her cheek to keep from telling the old bat that she had plenty of perfectly beautiful gowns but none that they would deem fit for her niece. She didn't carry flannel. Now behave yourself or I'm going to find Nurse Wendell and tell her you need an enema. His smile revealed several rotting teeth while his filthy, sweat stained shirt proclaimed him 'King of the Bear Whiz Beer Belly Contest.' Eyeing the wiggling patch of tattooed belly peeking out from the too small shirt, Sam had to agree with the declaration. 'It never occurred to you to call the police? Contrary to popular belief, we do a bit more than fill out forms, eat donuts and drink coffee,' he said as he raised his mug for a drink. Realizing his error, he sat the mug down on the table with a thump. Miss Maisy had taken to coming over every day to check on Angel and make sure the place was secure. She told Angel it was her civic duty. Angel personally thought it was so she could have an excuse to check out the store and still hold her head up at the Baptist Church. My Review: The mystery deepens, the crimes are intensifying, and surprises abound in the second book of this delightful and entertaining series. I am enjoying this author's humorous style. The writing is funny, heart squeezing, observant, and steamy. I doubt I would ever tire of more of the same.
