About the Author

John Shadowens is the Manager of Prevention Services for The H Group, a comprehensive behavioral health center in Southern Illinois and is the founder of Nephesh Social Capital. John has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Southeeast Missouri State University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Southern Illinois University. Over the last 25 years, John has worked in various roles in the human services field including youth residential treatment, adolescent and family therapy, mentoring, prevention education, community development and youth ministry. He has considerable expertise in mentoring, generational poverty, emplyee motivation, team-building, community engagement and positive youth development. John trains and consults for dozens of schools, churches, businesses and youth organizations each year.
