The Grand Canyon is a Place of 'Medicine.'
The "'Legend" is a story of one young boy's search for what Native Americans call 'medicine.' It is a rite of passage, a spiritual quest that determines their destiny. His village, on the south rim of the Canyon, is helpless against enemy attacks. The tribe is crushed and starved of hope until Nighthawk, the medicine man, has a vision that would teach them to stand. The prophecy offers one brilliant ray of hope and then is seemingly dashed in its infancy by a cruel twist of fate.
The story was born during a hiking trek into the Grand Canyon in the fall of 1983. It was unshakable and compelled me to write. The Canyon is a sacred place, one of many in the Four Corners region, rich with Native American folklore. It took me back in time when the First People sought 'medicine' there. The character of Limping Bear is defined by this journey.
Encouraged by Nighthawk, he dares to believe against all reason, he is the fulfillment of the prophecy. Walk with him in the sacred places and discover if it is the truth. Will he find the hidden secret of strength? Will it save his people? Can the secret be ours? Make the journey and know the Canyon is a place of 'medicine.'
May the story enrich and empower you to walk as a seeker of strength. Seeking God's very best for you -- Author: David Michael Aarons.

Very rarely does one find a story so original and so touching. It is a story of faith and encouragement and 'if it were easy, everybody would do it'. The narrative brings you to the rim of the Grand Canyon and you travel in with the young protaganist, seeing what he sees, hearing what he hears and feeling what he feels. You must read this book! And your friends, too!
