About the Author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Sawyer Bennett has written more than thirty books and been featured on both the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists on multiple occasions. A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real-life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to contemporary romance, she writes something for just about everyone. Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great workout, cake, or even better, both.

Chapter 1

The glow of Pepper’s house comes into view as soon as I turn onto our street. I wasn’t surprised when the day after Thanksgiving, her house was miraculously transformed into a psychedelic Christmas wonderland, complete with multicolored lights over every line and angle, a huge plastic Santa with reindeer on the roof, and speakers mounted in the trees that played Christmas carols. There’s even a massive spinning mechanical display of Frosty the Snowman that blows fake snow up into the air every few minutes.

The pièce de résistance, though, is a life-size biblical manger in the middle of her front yard, complete with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, a donkey, two sheep, a cow, and three camels with Wise Men riding them. The whole scene is lit up by floodlights planted into the ground in front of it.

I grit my teeth as I pull into my driveway. I can’t say anything about it because Pepper beat my ass in pool on Thanksgiving. It means I had to put my complaint to the homeowners’ association on hold as well, and so this holiday I’m relegated to keeping all my blinds drawn so as not to be blinded by the lights from her house.

Of course, that doesn’t mean she won’t do something else to irritate me. The woman seems to live for it, whether it be setting up a flock of pink, plastic flamingos in my yard or just driving me crazy with her beautiful face and slammin’ body. I shouldn’t think about her this much but I’ve never had someone fascinate me as much as annoy me before.

I note that she has three cars in her driveway, which isn’t unusual. Pepper seems to have a myriad of people over at her house all the time. She’s quite the social butterfly. She’s even invited me over for her intimate little soirees but I’ve declined every time.

The only other thing I’ve noticed of late is that Pepper and my teammate Dax haven’t been hanging out together. At least from what I can tell, and I’m not really sure how that makes me feel. There’s no way I’ll ever admit to slight stabs of jealousy when he was seeing her, because that would be ludicrous. I can’t stand the woman.

Giving one last, disgusted look at the Griswold house next door, I bring my Tahoe to a stop in the driveway and jab at the button to open the garage. As it slowly rises, I glance over at my porch to my left.

There’s what looks to be a package, although it’s hard to tell as I don’t have the porch light on. It’s something I’m bad about doing when I’m gone for the day and won’t be returning until evening, and I make a mental note to add to my unending list of projects to install some automated security lights.

But wait . . . that doesn’t look like a package. I peer through the gloom that the lights from Pepper’s house don’t quite permeate, all the way over to my porch.

It looks like maybe a pile of clothes.

My brows knitting in consternation, I put my vehicle in park and climb out. I walk up to the porch hesitantly because the closer I get to it, the more my gut rolls with some internal sense of danger.

When my foot hits the bottom of the three steps that lead up, my entire body tightens as I see it’s a blanket with something small wrapped inside.

My neck twists and I look over to Pepper’s house. Maybe it’s some type of prank she’s pulling on me.

I take the last steps to reach the porch and squat down by the bundle. Reaching out, I slowly peel back a corner of the fleece material and a baby starts crying.

A tiny, pink baby with eyes scrunched shut and little mouth pursed in pathetic whimpers.

I’m so stunned I straighten up and take a step back, catching the top step with my booted heel and stumbling the rest of the way back down into my front yard where I land on my ass.

What the heck?

With my feet spread wide and my palms planted in the grass at my butt, I stare in horror up at my porch as if I’d just found a bloody body.

The baby continues to cry and it causes me to move. I scramble up from the ground, then stare at the bundle for a moment before taking off toward Pepper’s house. I clear a low row of shrubs between our two yards and leap onto her porch in one single bound. My fist is at her door banging so hard that the huge tin multicolored gecko nailed there rattles and threatens to fall off.

The front door swings open quickly and I almost stumble across the threshold. Pepper stands there with a smile on her face that slides right off as she takes me in. If my expression mirrors the confusion and panic rolling through me right now, she had good reason not to smile.

I point a shaky finger back toward my house. “Baby. Front porch.”

Pepper’s face morphs into confusion and someone behind her says, “Hey, Pepp . . . is that the hot hockey player that lives next door? Have him come in and play some Scrabble with us.”

She ignores the person as do I. Instead, I merely lunge at her to grab her hand and I’m pulling her physically through her doorway. I turn and run down the porch, and Pepper follows me without question or complaint.

I drag her right up onto the porch where my hand is shaking even more violently as I point down at the baby wrapped in the blanket. It’s still whimpering softly.

“Oh my God,” Pepper exclaims as she jerks her hand out of mine and stoops to pick up the baby. She peels the blanket back further to stare at the little creature. She finds its hand and pushes her finger into its and I’m amazed as the baby grasps on tightly.

Her head turns to me. “You just found this on your porch?”

I can’t even speak so I just nod effusively.

“Where did it come from?”

I shake my head and shrug.

Pepper takes a step back and looks down at where the baby was lying. We both see a note there which must have been underneath the bundle.
I pick it up. My hands are still shaking as I open it, and immediately realize it’s too dark to see. I walk woodenly down my porch steps, the feeling of dread that’s lodged deep in the pit of my stomach making me want to puke.

Moving to the front of my Tahoe where the headlights sufficiently illuminate the area, I open the note again. I’m vaguely aware that Pepper’s at my side, leaning in to read alongside me.

I hate to spring this on you, but I find myself unable to care for our baby. She’s fourteen days old and I haven’t named her yet. I know this is coming as a surprise, but you’re in a better position to care for her than I am.

“You had a baby?” Pepper asks softly.

“No,” I mutter. “I mean . . . if this is true, yes. But I had no clue. I saw this woman briefly while I was with the Spartans down in Florida. I had no idea she was pregnant.”

“Wow,” Pepper murmurs as I twist my neck to look at her. Her eyes are soft and wondrous. “Talk about a surprise, huh?”

I love the men of Cold Fury but boy do the men of the Arizona Vengeance give them a run for their money. Legend I think may be my favourite to date and that is saying something since I absolutely loved both the previous two books in this series. Firstly let me put this out there, Legend Bay is MINE, no arguments, no sharing. All MINE. However I do think that feisty and quirky Pepper Nantais is the perfect heroine for him. Returning home Legend is shocked to find a present has been left for him. From the first chapter Sawyer Bennett packed such a punch that I was reeling and totally hooked. I loved Legend to me he was a guy determined to make life better and he most assuredly had me swooning. I admire the strength and determination both Legend and Pepper bring to the story. There were so many OMG moments in Legend that I am being careful so that I do not spoil anything. With that being said, this is a book that you need to one click. Yo won’t be disappointed. There is plenty of action on and off the ice and I cannot wait to see where Sawyer Bennett takes this team and I am excited for the next release in the series.

Legend has butted heads with his colourful neighbour since moving into his new home. Legend and Pepper have very different styles and way of expressing themselves; while Pepper is colourful, creative and artistic, Legend is calm and rational priding himself on his focus and dedication to his career. So why is Pepper digging so deep under Legend’s skin? Despite their banter, there are very real electrical sparks between the pair. However, Legend is determined to ignore them dismissing Pepper as flighty and ditzy. So when Legend’s life gets turned upside down, it comes as a complete shock to him that the one person he can turn to for help is Pepper. I adored Pepper and her view of the world, seeing and doing are often to very different things when it comes to offering help but Pepper embraces the chance to make others life better whether it is via the children’s books she writes and illustrates or by aiding others with the curveballs life throws at them. Her optimistic nature and colourful pixie presence bring the sunshine she carries inside her to people’s lives. Even though she herself has suffered traumatic life events, Pepper has used the experiences to embrace the positive in her life rather than letting the negative shape her identity. I loved how accepting Legend was of the situation and the way in which he allowed love to become a fundamental part of his life. Some seriously swoon-worthy moments here. The portrayal of the mental health issue within the narrative was to an extreme but was a necessary addition to the plot. Legend is a super sweet story and shows that everything happens for a reason even if it is very different to how we envisioned it.

Sawyer never missed a beat! Love this series as much as the Cold Fury. Legend was a great surprise.

Steamy goodness! I loved this story! Lots of surprises keep the reader on the edge of their seat throughout, as we watch this adorable couple meander the roadblocks popping up around every corner. They're great together. I can't wait to read the next couple of books in this series. So much is happening! Arizona Vengeance goalie Legend Bay is living life and enjoying every moment of it. The team's doing great and the only thing he has to gripe about is his annoying neighbor. She is so over-the-top that every little thing she does just drives him bananas, but when an unexpected discovery leaves him at her mercy, she comes through for him top notch. He can't bring himself to hate on her anymore ... especially once he gets to know what a really nice woman she is. Pepper Nantais has been crushing on Legend for while now, but there's no way she's going to let the arrogant jerk know that. She'll help him out of this mess he finds himself in, but she doesn't have to like it. Until she starts to ... a little too much!

These characters and their relationship jump off the page. It is a mature and well developed love story with charm, passion and a good conflict to keep it interesting. Love seeing the whole Vengeance family in each new book. Great read.

4.5 stars Legend by Sawyer Bennett is such a good read. The storyline is entertaining from start to end, it's well paced and I loved all the characters and the role they played to make this such a good read. I loved Legend and Pepper together, I enjoyed their banter, they knew what buttons to press to get a reaction from the other and I loved how well they communicated and connected over Legend's circumstances. Legend is a quick, sweet and heartwarming read and I highly recommend it. Legend is an excellent addition to the Arizona Vengeance series, each book has been a joy to read and I'm excited to read Dax's book next.

Oh my. I just loved Legend and Pepper’s story. From enemies to lovers, Pepper and Legend sure know how to heat up the pages. Legend takes his surprise in stride and Pepper goes along for the ride. I was on the edge of my seat, for sure, at the end. You’ll not want to miss a moment of the Arizona Vengeance guys. 5 stars!!!

Who would have thought Legend was the man portrayed in this riveting heartwarming but also intriguing hockey romance story! I am totally in love with his beautiful heart! His whole demeanor struck a chord in me and I loved how he treated people, his sense of caring about others was absolutely amazing! That man has the biggest heart! The way he dived into his new life changing challenge, the way the friendship progressed with Pepper and the way he was with his teammates really made him a trustworthy and all around wonderful man! Pepper was a great addition to his life I think she really brought out the best in him! She had zest, spoke it like it is and was incredibly caring too! I had so many thoughts and emotions whilst reading! I laughed, cried and swooned! Hands down this book is a number 1 story in 2019! It had drama, heat, beautiful friendships, a love story like no other and suspense that drew you in hard! What the author has written is downright amazing and I cannot wait for more of this series!! She must have put her heart and soul into this story and its a real credit to her!

I was excited to get Legend’s and Peppers story. I knew it was going to be a good one. I wasn’t disappointed. I really enjoyed seeing Legend and Pepper come together for a very good reason. The quirky neighbor turns out to be a very good friend to Legend. She’s there for him when he really needs someone. Legend ends up being a really good guy too. I figured he’d be a “player” as in womanizer, not hockey player. He was a stand up guy and good friend. I adored reading this story and look forward to getting more from the guys of the Arizona Vengeance.

Legend is the third book in the Arizona Vengeance series by the fabulous and talented Sawyer Bennett. I have read ALL of Sawyer's books and in my opinion her writing just keeps getting better and better. I'm in love with her hockey heroes. All the way from Alex through the Cold Fury (My man Ryker!) and I am absolutely loving these Arizona Vengeance players! We have known Legend since the beginning and he's nothing like I thought he would be. He hated his neighbor, Pepper, for her yard decoration shenanigans, but he always thought she was sexy and gorgeous. But when she is there when he really needs her, he sees her for so much more than her loud, obnoxious yard décor. Legend didn't see Pepper coming. And it wasn't just that he needed someone, he needed her. Now that they've been thrown into a situation together, their chemistry amps ups quickly and the hate he thought he had for her is gone. He wants her in his bed. Is his life. In his heart. He has never been a relationship guy, but he's never met anyone like Pepper before. Pepper has had a crush on Legend Bay for a while now. Being his neighbor and being able to bug him by putting pink flamingos was just a bonus. Now that she's willingly tangled up in Legend and his life, she's not looking back. The attraction that was always there seems to hit her hard and fast and there's not getting away. Not that she'd want to! When life throws you a loop and danger looms on the horizon, will it make the stronger or tear them apart? I loved this story! I think this is my favorite of the series so far! Legend…sigh…he's just everything! He's wise beyond his years. He's level headed, smart, sexy, handsome and so sweet. Squishy and quick with the romantic words and gestures. And when he wants something he works his hardest to get it on and off the ice. Overall, I loved every second! I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered and just smiled every time Legend opened his heart to Pepper. He's deeper than any of us gave him credit for and my heart just melted for him!

Legend Bay may be one heck of a goaltender for the Arizona Vengeance, but even he can’t stop his life from being turned upside down when he finds out he’s a dad of a babygirl who needs him in ways that his athletic prowess, his skills between the pipes, and his ability to not allow anything to interfere with his concentration may not completely prepare him for being a single dad as well as a professional hockey player. Good thing his next door neighbor is willing to help Legend find his way despite his less than friendly attitude about her rather eclectic lawn decorations. Pepper Nantais is such a fantastic heroine; she’s not intimidated by Legend’s broodiness or his stick-in-the-mud attitude; in fact, she’s all about egging him on and riling him up, but when he needs her the most, she doesn’t hesitate; she’s steps up in unexpected and amazing ways, and while Legend has more than enough on his plate, he can’t help but be mesmerized by his beautiful, funny, intelligent, and bubbly neighbor, so as much as he thinks he has nothing to offer Pepper but ‘fun,’ opening up his heart to his daughter will also allow him to go for something unexpected but something so worthwhile. Legend is an absolutely swoon worthy hero, especially when his daughter enters his life. He takes on his new ‘normal’ with grace and determination and the fact that he’s not afraid to ask for help when he needs it makes him even more amazing. And regardless of how many times he told himself that he didn’t have anything more to give to Pepper than his body, it’s beyond clear that Legend and Pepper are something special, not only because their chemistry is off-the-charts, but also because their personalities complement each other, offering exactly what the other needs whenever they need it. Legend is an amazing sports romance with the perfect blend of romance, humor, steam, and drama, and all of those components make for an entertaining and worthwhile read. There are still so many Vengeance players whose stories need to be told, and I can’t wait to see where Bennett takes these hockey stars and the women who find their way into their lives and their hearts. 4.5 Poison Apples

O!M!G!!!!! I love this freaking fabulous book!!!! I FLOVE Legend Bay (cough, cough comafugh). Sorry Ladies, did you read Erik yet? You may understand then, and no, I will not say. Legend is the 3rd book in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance Series. Yes, each book in the series is a “standalone”, but the series is on-going, sort of like a TV series about a family. I really love this, because I get to read about the characters of previous and future books…eek!!! Legends neighbor is flighty, certainly too flighty for him, just look at are front lawn, and the prank with those pink plastic flamingos!! So, when I get home that night and find a baby on my porch, I head straight to Pepper Nantais’s door for help! Pepper moves to her own beat. She is an author and illustrator of a popular children’s book series. She also has a heart of gold, and will do absolutely ANYthing for someone she loves, even protect them with her life. I really enjoyed watching these two (3) grow together, and then, the Charlie factor…. aww. I have to say, my heart was in my throat a few times, especially when Pepper opens her door and……. STOP, no spoilers!!! I do not want to give anything away. This really is a wonderful story/series about people that just happen to be hockey players. I FLOVE hockey romance and Ms. Bennett is the reason. I read Zack the 3rd book in her Cold Fury Hockey series and have been hooked on Ms. Bennett’s writing and hockey romance ever since. Thank you, Ms. Bennett for sharing your wonderful talents with your readers! Thank you for reading my review. Now Ladies, go hit that purchase button, you will not be disappointed!!

Oh sweet baby Jesus! Sawyer has officially done it! She has knocked my socks off and stole my wig! (I've been binge watching Drag Race) Legend is someone I have been waiting for to find out what would happen with him and his neighbor, Pepper... but lordy I was not expecting the curveball Sawyer threw! Sawyer always gives us heroines that don't back down and can show up with the best of them and this is Pepper to a "T"! She is sassy, witty, strong, and compassionate in the best of ways - which is just what Legend needs when he comes home to a big "little" surprise! I love that even though things happen quickly between Pepper and Legend, they remain true to themselves and one another - fighting for what they want and what is the best for their "family". Someone hold my hand for when we finally get to learn more about Tacker! I am holding my breath until that moment I have his story in my hands. I cannot wait to see what else Sawyer has up her sleeve for the Vengeance!

I will admit I have enjoyed this series so far but I feel it doesn't have as much angst and adventure as the Cold Fury series has. Until now. I'm having a difficult time categorizing this book. Most would say it's Enemies-to-Lovers, but it's also single-dad/nanny, kinda. Pepper is not the nanny, but she is the person Legend depends on when it comes to his new daughter. We knew after reading Erik that these two would be explosive once they got over their "hatred", but the minute Legend finds a bundle of joy on his doorstep all is forgotten and forgiven. Yes there is mention of their disagreements in the past, but it's as if it was never a problem, yet we know it was a major problem for him. I truly enjoyed catching up, however briefly, with Erik and Blue and Bishop and Brooke and seeing their relationships progress. I can't wait to see more of each of these couples in future books.

This series just gets better and better! Oh my! Can I just start off and say that I love Sawyer's Author Note and the glimpse we get into everyone's story with each book. And the set up for this one in Erik's book let you know this was going to be a fun ride. Legend and Pepper - what a cute as pink flamingo lawn ornaments couple. Actually they are even cuter!! And Charlie - oh my - that little angel is going to be so much fun to see in future books of this series. So Pepper has gotten on Legend's nerves from the moment he moves in - but it's not hate - just intense dislike - lol. But Pepper is there for him when he needs her. Then they can't really deny their attraction to each other any longer. Then the drama really unfolds. This one had drama, romance, wit, love for a child - whether by blood or bond, and so much more. It was a fun read and then things got serious and I could NOT put this book down. Another winner by Sawyer Bennett and I swear I like each book more than the last - loved the cameos in this one too! Sawyer Bennett writes good hockey!! And I love reading about my town!! I was so lucky to voluntarily request and review an uncorrected advance reader copy from the publisher via Net Galley.

Very much enjoyed this installment in this newest Hockey series. I am a sucker for single dad stories but this one had the element of being a surprise for everyone - dad included! Also add to that the enemies to friends and then lovers between the main characters. It all added up to one packed story but it was good in all the best ways. So many emotions, so much heat and so much intrigue as well. You won't go wrong with this story at all. If anything I thought that the sports element came a distant 3rd in the story but it wasn't really missed. Lots to love and I give this one 4.5 stars!

My Rating: 4.5 Favorite Quotes: My world just got narrowed down to this eight-pound bundle of wonderment in my arms and I am a different person as of now. “Casual,” I confirm with a hard nod, but I do feel compelled to add on. “But exclusive.” Dax grins knowingly because he understands that I just metaphorically peed on Pepper and marked my territory. “You have nothing to be nervous about. You are wonderful and you could never embarrass me.” Relief wells in her eyes. “Unless you have an extreme case of flatulence at the table, and in that instance, I’m going to have to ask you to sit in the car and wait for me until I finish eating.” I was 99.9 percent sure Pepper would say yes, but damn if that one-tenth of a point chance she might not didn’t have my body locked tight. My Review: I know next to nothing about hockey, other than it is played on the ice and it tends to violent, as the players are prone to brawl. So imagine my surprise when the tale turned out to be quite sweet. The storylines were well balanced with levity, erotically sensual steam, foul-mouthed characters, mental health issues, intrigue, and a tender yet sexy romance. The writing was observantly insightful and sneakily emotive. I enjoyed watching Legend’s awareness evolve and I found myself becoming quite unexpectedly fond of him, as he was protective and increasingly considerate of not just his innocent child but of Pepper and his struggling teammates. The storylines were briskly paced, well plotted, written with my favorite dual POV, and kept me continually entertained with a pleasantly engaging romance while also tickling my curiosity as I waited for the looming threat to arise. The main characters were neighbors who had been somewhat at odds and annoying each other for several months as the highly structured and uptight hockey player, Legend, did not appreciate the colorful lawn displays and social lifestyle of Pepper, his somewhat bohemian next-door neighbor. Pepper was free-spirited and had a kind and relaxed personality as well as a creative and artistic flair to her style. I adored her. When her sexy yet cranky pain in the keister neighbor stumbled into her door in panic mode, Pepper did not hesitate to render assistance. Legend was lucky she was so forgiving and generous with her time as his panic turned out to be warranted. A newborn baby had been left at his door in the dark with only a note, and that was only the beginning of the baby mama drama.

Oh my! In the previous books of the series we were led to believe Legend was going to be so rigid he would not unwind enough to have fun but then he comes home from practice and finds a present on his front porch...a baby! Who does he turn to? His next door neighbor who has been driving him crazy because she is such a nonconformist. Pepper is definitely what he needs and she steps in and takes control of the baby...and Legend...and when it comes time to shop for supplies, she is all in. These two are perfect for each other and once they start spending time together they find out they really do have more in common than not. This is one hot and sexy read so hang on it is going to get hot in Arizona! I definitely recommend this one (along with the rest of this series) although I am really looking forward to the ones coming up. **Received this ARC for review**

Upon returning home from a late night of hockey, Legend is immediately bombarded with what looks like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation decorations. While Legend thinks his next door neighbor is extremely “hot”, he can’t stand her yard trash. He’s exasperated, but can’t turn her into the HOA because he lost a bet-no complaining. So he parks his car for the evening, but sees something on his porch. As he approaches and looks under the blankets, he realizes someone’s left a crying baby on his porch. Not knowing what to do or even how to hold an infant, he backs away and runs to Pepper. Pepper, the whimsical artistic one in her family, is constantly leaving “surprises” for Legend-just to irritate him. When he knocks on her door, she assumes it’s to complain about her yard decorations. Then he drags her over to his house, to the crying baby. Pepper immediately picks the little girl up while Legend calls the police. They find a note in the infant seat claiming it's Legend’s baby. Until paternity is determined, the infant is taken to a foster home. I know I said this on the last Arizona Vengeance novel, but I think this novel was the best one yet! Sawyer Bennett is a genius in weaving a believable storyline with characters who you normally wouldn’t think mesh, but are so right for each other in every way! Pepper is carefree, bright, and colorful. Legend is focused, strict, and “bland”. It’s amazing how much more “alive, colorful” Legend’s life becomes with Charlie and Pepper. Although this novel is the third in the series and can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading them in order so you get the “whole” picture. You also don’t necessarily have to be a huge hockey fan in order to read this novel. While Legend is a highly successful NHL player, it’s not the focus of the story. I loved Pepper and Legend’s friendship. They are hilarious together and so complimentary to each other. A perfect match! The suspense and baby mama drama had me on the edge of my seat! Throw in an adorable baby girl....all the feels! I highly recommend this novel. I received a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

I am so in love with this series! Sawyer always brings a page-turning storyline with every book and this is no different. I flew through it and it left me wanting more. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

I wasn't sure about the Arizona Vengeance series but I can honestly say that it has definitely captured my attention. Legend and Pepper have a turbulent relationship due to her extravagant and colorful display of decorations which irritates the crap out of Legend but makes Pepper giddy as hell! The relationship that developed and blossomed between these two after a life changing event that rocked Legend's world was beautiful to see. This book was a beautiful emotional read with all the feels.

This is the 3rd book in the Arizona Vengeance series, however, I think that this book can comfortably be read on a stand alone basis. I’ve been really looking forward to Legend and Pepper and I have to say I was not disappointed. It was a really addictive read and one that I absolutely devuoured. It flowed really well and I felt that the story was really well developed. There was drama and a little angst but there was plenty of light relief and boy the chemistry between Legend and Pepper was electric which led to some pretty steamy sexy times. Overall this was a really enjoyable read and one I would be happy to recommend. I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.

I've been waiting for Legend and Pepper's story since the sparks started to fly between these two neighbors and the plastic flamingos graced the driveway! I knew this enemies to lovers story was going to pack a punch, but I didn't expect it to pull on my heartstrings as much as it did. Legend can be read as a standalone, but it would be best enjoyed in order since many characters (including the hero and heroine) appear in the previous books. I'm not usually a big fan of the surprise/secret baby trope, but seeing Legend as a dad really made it work. He often was so serious in the prior books, that seeing him gush and fawn over his little girl, Charlie, really changed my view on him. I loved that he faced fatherhood head on and embraced this new and unexpected twist in his life. Legend and Pepper were such a great couple too! They always had fantastic chemistry, so it was no surprise that things took off when these two started to spend real time together. Their personalities definitely complemented the other and even though things progressed rapidly, it felt organic given their history and current situation. I will admit that at first I was worried that Legend was using Pepper as a crutch, but time and time again he squashed those concerns by being open and honest with Pepper about his feelings and concerns. It's always refreshing when characters don't make drama for the sake of drama and actually talk and work things out as adults. Don't worry though drama lovers! There is plenty of drama to go around in Legend, from issues with the baby mama to teammates in crisis and coping with their own grief and loss. This was a really entertaining read and I love how Sawyer Bennett continues to plant the seeds for Dax and Tacker's stories. I'm positive that Tacker's story is going to rip my heart out. I can't wait ;) *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
