About the Author

Paul Levitz has worked for DC Comics in various capacities for over 35 years, with tenures as an editor (ADVENTURE COMICS, BATMAN), a writer (ALL STAR COMICS, LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES), and ultimately President and Publisher. As a writer, he is best known for his long association with the Legion, which began in 1974 and has continued off and on ever since — with a particularly fan-favored run published between 1982 and 1989. In 2009 Levitz stepped down from his executive role at DC to pursue writing again full-time, and he is now the author of the relaunched LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES.

Lot of stuff happens in this book. While volume 1 was one continuous story, this one has a main plot and quite a few sub plots that clutter up the plot. To be fair, it all comes to a head in volume 3 (which is larger and even more bloated I feel) this book pretty much is the rising action before the climax. Some of the events are very exciting; such as Titan (Saturn Girl's home planet) exploding and her children being abducted, Lightening Lass and friend (I honestly can't remnants who is with her) exploring a Magic planet. All of those can be fun little Sci-Fi stories for the Legion, but some are so brief that they feel inconsequital when it's all over. It might have been better to cut out the extra stories and make them a "Tales of the LOSH" or something. One other big complaint that bugged me is at certain points a team of Legionnaires would face an opponent that was too tough for them; enter a random teammate who has the right power to beat the opponent out of the blue. This happened a good 5 times at least. Art wise, there's 5-7 different ones in this book. Usually there's no distracting differences; but in some chapters two different artists handled one chapter. One I really liked, but can't find out which of the two it was. Kudos to both of them that a story drawn by 2 different people carries a consistent style. Overall, not as good as volume 1 but slightly better than volume 3.
