The Lennon Prophecy: A New Examination of the Death Clues of the Beatles by Joseph Niezgoda

Offering a new interpretation of the hidden messages and symbols that have ornamented Beatles mythology for years, this examination of the Beatles' recordings and album artwork theorizes that John Lennon's murder was eerily foretold. Following a fascinating and unique trail of sorcery, mysticism, numerology, backwards masking, anagrams, and literary and theological writings, the book posits that John Lennon sold his soul in order to achieve international fame and fortune and subsequently paid the ultimate price for his success.

I guess I'm in the minority here because I rate it a little better than 4 stars. That is because there is a lot of detailled information about the Beatles early years that I didn't know or forgot about. The author seems to give a lot of details about those times and less detail from the time after the touring started. There is virtually nothing about the post-Beatle era but a lot of info on Marc David Chapman. The author has a silly premise that John Lennon made a pact with the Devil sometime in 1960 which gave him 20 years of huge success before the murder 20 years later. He compares Lennon to the Faust story and draws on all the clues that pointed to Paul's death as really being harbingers of what was to befall Lennon and because of Lennon's anti-religion stance and fascination with death. I enjoyed most of the book for all the info and wish there was more post-Beatle detail. I knew very little about Chapman because that time was very painful for me to focus on and I tried to put it behind. The author seemed to have done a lot of research into Chapman's life. The point is Chapman did what he did because he thought killing a celebrity would make him remembered, plain and simple and not the whole treatise presented by the author.

A pretty entertaining book overall. Makes you see known events in a different light. Some observations can overreach at times, but still a very entertaining read.

Did John Lennon sell his soul¿
Joseph Niezgoda was more than a fan of Lennon. He is a fan, collector, and scholar. Niezgoda raises the question ¿ Did John Lennon sell his soul to the devil?¿ Many coincidences are mentioned, including Lennon¿s disdain of religion--especially Christianity. Lennon was extremely disrespectful of any Christian official. Lennon¿s goal was to be more popular than Elvis, and he stated he was more popular than Jesus. While the Beatles were widely accepted and embraced in the US and England, they were asked to leave other countries. Lennon was fascinated by numerology. It is speculated that Mark David Chapman was used by the devil to kill Lennon. The theory is that Chapman was demon-possessed. The pact with the devil was suppose to last 20 years, and that¿s how long his fame lasted. The lyrics to many of Lennon¿s songs predict his fate.
Joseph Niezgoda well researched and documented his book The Lennon Prophecy. I have never been a big fan of John Lennon; however, I was quickly caught up in this book. The coincidences are fascinating, and there are too many to truly think they are a fluke.
