this has been very helpful in my classroom. I have a new Israeli student who doesn't speak English. Words are grouped by topic in an illustrated scene. For instance, in the classroom. Objects are labeled in Hebrew, transliteration and English. My attempts at the Hebrew seem to empower the student's confidence as my "teacher" and that encourages the student to repeat and take risks with the English. I've added subject "tabs" with sticky pad notes to find the pages easily.
