Another beautiful coming of age tale by Ann Lavendar set at the end of the second world war and beginning of the Korean. As Evelyn sets foot between the twilight realm of childhood ignorance and dreams into the learned realities of adulthood we get to see her grow up too fast and for all the wrong reasons. The ending actually shocked me and it's a tribute to the sacrifices we make for the sake of family and love. Just, wow.
"Not true." She whispered with a smile.
