Original, but never enough to keep me hooked. It was a little weird and the characters were WAY unrealistic and over-the-top. I didn't exactly enjoy the Foo concept and Geth and all. It wasn't my type of fantasy. It kind of copied the "Great Tree of Avalon" concept, which also annoyed me.

So you say you don't like to read. You'll eat your words once you read Leven Thumps and The Gateway to Foo. I never really liked to read but since I read this book I read the rest of the series (5 books that are usually 300 pages) in less than a few weeks! It is a book about 14 year old Leven Thumps and 13 year old Winter. Clover the sycophant (pronounced sick-o-funt) that is a little catlike creature that guides people. Geth the lithen, who is Foo's closest thing to royalty. Lithens' believe in fate so much that if they don't know what to do, they sit there and ''think'' fate will get them out. Geth had many opinions about what the evil Sabine wanted, to combine Foo and reality henceforth ending humanity, since we could not live without dreams and hope. So Geth wanted to end Sabines plans, but, currently he was a tree since Sabine had taken Geth's soul and put it in that of a tree seed. Clover had spent 14 years watching Leven, so when the time was here, they would be able to save everything. Yes, Leven really did need Clover, Winter, and Geths help because right now, he was being tormented by his half aunt Addy, and her husband, Terry, since Levens mother died at child birth, and his dad died before he was born. Although Winter must go through the same thing. She had to go through it with who she thought was her mother, Janet. Winter didn't know it, but she was from Foo since she had the ability to freeze things. You know, you'd think that a mother would be able to tell the difference between her own daughter and a strangers' daughter. But, this was Janet, and she wasn't very bright. Although, on the way to Foo, Winter will question who she is since she had taken up the crazy mission to stop Sabine. Leven will doubt himself since he is the only one in the world who can stop Sabine. Geth (after being chopped down and sliced into a toothpick) will learn that he is not whole and after getting the information, he will ask if he can continue the journey to claim revenge on his arch nemesis. And Clover, well, he doesn't have a problem with anything. Now, if they all except Clover of course, they will be able to do anything. I give this book four out of five stars. I would recommend this for 5th and 6th graders.

This book was really good and fun to read. I like the fantasy that is told in the book. I also enjoy how the story has the good side and the bad side. It was really cool how they travel half around the world to get to the portal. Excellent writing!!! 5/5

I can't believe more people haven't read this series! It contains everything you'd want in a good story; adventure, comical characters, new worlds where anything is possible, and cute furry creatures! Obert Skye is a talented author who has definitely come up with something great here! This series isn't just for kids either (don't let the pictures throw you off), everyone should read these books at least once! They're just that much fun!
