Overview

Liars For Jesus: The Religious Right's Alternate Version of American History by Chris Rodda

Liars for Jesus debunks many of the historical lies invented and used by the Christian nationalist history revisionists in their efforts to further their far right political agenda and destroy the wall of separation between church and state in America. Liars for Jesus is not a book about religion. It is a history book, presenting and fully documenting the true stories and historical facts that are distorted in the "Christian nation" pseudo-history promoted by the religious right.

As a student of history, I have always been bothered by the rewriting of American history to make it appear more "Christian" in its founding then is the case. This is done by fundamentalist christian writers who have a certain agenda to pursue. Chris Rodda has researched and written a splendid account of America's founding without any apparent bias.....just the facts. America's founding was a unique and the founders drew from all their understanding of Greece, Rome, and the Enlightenment. Chris packs this book with all the appropriate footnotes to back up her assertions. This is a must read for all who love America and have an interest in the truth of our founding. It should be required reading for all students. I highly recommend.

I can tell that this man wants to lie about history. How does he explain away the fact that the most quoted text of the founders was the bible. Or that the founders wanted to have a depiction of the ancient israelites on the seal. Or that the early presidents often called prayer days and thom jefferson allowed church meetings in the capitol and attended them evey sunday
