About the Author

Diane Edwards comes from a Norwegian family who homesteaded in North Dakota in 1906. For two decades Diane and her husband, Dale, have lived in Fort Collins, Colorado. Dale is the Colorado State University County Extension Director for Arapahoe County. Diane writes, "I always dreamed of living near the mountains since my Norwegian roots are from the Sogn Fjord north of Bergen on the west coast of Norway." Diane has a BS and MA in Art and Education. She has painted and taught painting for over 40 years. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado and an Associate Member of Women Artists of the West. Glenna was raised on a sandhill cattle ranch near North Platte, NE, which was purchased by her Norwegian great grandparents in 1897. buffalo Bill cody was a neighbor and friend of the family. His ranch, Scouts Rest Ranch, is now a State Park. Glenna's maternal great grandparents taught school on the Sioux Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, and established He Dog School, which is still in operation. Glenna's interest is in Colorado geology and history, and writes, "ALL of our summer vacations were spent in the Rocky Mountains jeeping the high mountain passes and experiencing the wonders of nature" She received a BA in Earth Science and Meteorology from Chadron State College, Nebraska, and a science teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
