Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil by Angela Stanton

Brazen, incisive, and outrageous, Lies Of A Real Housewife, spans the years of early childhood through adulthood. It’s an illustration of guts, and the determination it takes to overcome tragedies in one’s life. Her story begins at the tender age of five years old when Angela Stanton was raped. She takes us into her survival mode on the streets, and adjustments she had to make in her home life. The author shares experiences of her teen years, growing up in Buffalo, NY. She leads us on a short stay as a young girl in Greensboro, NC. The author, rapper, wife and mother, guides us through her struggles into her early adult years in Hotlanta. By fate, she lives a hustler’s life of crime with none other than Real Housewives of Atlanta’s own, Phaedra Parks. By a twist of fate, her life crashes sending her on a trip to a darkened place called hell. Urban Author, Angela Stanton, survives to give a raw, revolutionary account of her daring journey to redemption. In her sophomore book, Lies Of A Real Housewife, Angela Stanton opens her past life for public viewing.

About the Author

Angela Stanton was born gifted with the ability to captivate people with her words. A dynamic motivational speaker and author that inspires her audiences by her own life's challenges. Angela was born in Cheverly, M.D. and moved to Buffalo, N.Y. at the age of six weeks.
Angela  attended  more  than  thirteen different  elementary  and  high schools  before  she  finally  ended  up  in  an  alternative  school.  After  being expelled  from alternative education  she  ended  up  in  evening  school ,  then  after  being  expelled from there  it  was  ruled  that  she  could  never  attend  another  school  in  the  state  of  New  York.
Angela  was  sexually  and  mentally  abused  beginning  at  the  tender  age  of  five.  She  first  ran  away  at  the  age  of  nine,   then subsequently  left  home  for  good  at  the  age  of  twelve.   Angela  has  endured  many  of  life’s  heartaches  ranging  from  promiscuity,  drug’s,  mental  and  physical  abuse.  She has also been arrested  over  twenty  times.
Angela  is  now  a  married  mother  of  five and  a  three time  convicted  felon,  who now  resides  in  Atlanta,  G.A.  with  four  of  her  children.  She  gave  birth  to  her  fifth  child  in  prison  handcuffed  to  a  bed.   She  also  lost  her  mother  and  grandmother  to  death  during  her  incarceration.
Instead  of  succumbing to  all  of  her  misfortunes  in  life,  she  uses her  experience  in  life’s  lessons  to  help  other’s over come. Her story is gripping and her concern is sincere. Along  those  lines,  Angela  is  the  author  of  Life Beyond These walls, and founder of Dont Ask Just Tell a non profit organization;  her life is having a profound impact in halfway houses, youth detention centers and on the unsuspecting. Angela's client  list  includes  satisfied  customers  from  the  corporate,  civic,  faith-based,  correctional  systems,  and  school  sectors.

It's a shame to write this review but I feel strongly about spending money on something and it is not at all what the cover lead me to believe! Ms. Stanton could have used this opportunity (it is VERY difficult to get a book published) to tell her story of "rags to riches (in her heart and soul)" or "forgiveness and redemption" to help young African American girls, women and men. Instead she uses every opportunity to pull Ms. Phaedra Parks into her story (even when it is unrelated) and shame, accuse, indict, convict, defame.....it really does become vindictive and pointless to the story which she is trying to tell. The Introduction to her book is written with thought, class and admiration of Ms Stanton. Unfortunately, that was the only part that was!! I think an editor or a Ghost Writer (hopefully there wasn't one) could have made this book so inspirational......and use Ms. Parks as an example of "looks are deceiving" and to give credibility to Ms. Stanton's struggles. Instead, this book takes cheap shots and mentions situations and periods of time that are out of place with Ms. Stanton's life story.

Great book. I agree this book merits more recognition, as well as, media coverage. I beg to differ in that Ms. Angela Stanton is obsessed with Phaedra Parks of The Real Housewives of Atlanta; on BravoTv, but rather, is very hurt with the outcome and justifiably so. Also, I applaud Ms. Stanton for her work with other victims and abused women in general.

She sounds very angry and still haven't gotten over the situation. She appears to be obsessed with Pheadra. She needs to move on with her life and live with the fact that she was used!

I was greatly shocked and appalled! This book truly shows that money only changes your economic status and not your class, morality, or integrity!

I believe every ounce of this. Phaedra Parks came across sleazy from the first episode of RHOA. What comes around, goes around.

The story was well written however the references to Phaedra after so long became quite annoying as if she had to be mentioned to keep the attention of the reader...I was losing interest at the end of the book because of it
