Who would have guessed that the windiest, chilliest weather in the world occurs not in the Himalayas but in New England? Yet New Hampshire's Mount Washington is indeed known as "Home of the World's Worst Weather." We know this because its weather has been recorded for years at the meteorological observatory on the summit.
In Life at the Top Eric Pinder explains the geology and infamous weather of "The Rockpile" and describes the joys and terrors of living in the clouds. He also includes recipes from crew members, who take their meals seriously.

Read it while your trusted recipe from the mountain is cooking. Absolutely wonderful! I would have never thought to combine a weather observatory with cooking, but Pinder does so marvalously. I've even given some recipes to friends.
