Overview

Betty Spencer is a seventy-two-year-old great-grandmother who lives in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and Zephyrhills, Florida. Three of her grandchildren attend school in Bath. Her daughter is employed by the Bath school system. Mrs. Spencer became interested in writing this book after reading several books about important events in American history. She felt that the Bath School Disaster was worthy of the attention of all school children everywhere. It is her desire, not to alarm the children, but to make them more aware of their own mortality, and to instill in them an appreciation for the modern facilities that they have available now. Due to the determination, perseverance and generosity of those who have preceded them, they can enjoy the luxuries and safety of their new modern school buildings today.
