Life with a Fire-Breathing Girlfriend

Life with a Fire-Breathing Girlfriend

by Bryan Fields

A lot of guys claim to have hot girlfriends. David Fraser has one who actually breathes fire.

Rose Drake is a Dragoness in Human form, come to Earth for three years to soak up the local energy and increase her chances of having happy, healthy, baby hatchlings when she goes home. In exchange for his time and energy, David’s body and love life both undergo extreme makeovers. It sounds like the deal of a lifetime.

Fate doesn’t let David and Rose off so easily. A friend of theirs is murdered, their homeowner’s association starts harassing them, and they have to complete a quest for an Elven sage in order to stop a genocidal Unicorn from turning Earth into a radioactive wasteland.

After all, when you’re dating a Dragon, you’re already a hero. It says so in the fine print.

About the Author

By day, I’m a mild-mannered IT tech; by night, a writer who spends too much time in online games. I grew up reading classical authors such as Verne, Burroughs, Wells, Haggard, and Lovecraft, often in conjunc-tion with large doses of Monty Python, Wild Wild West, and Hee-Haw. My current influences include Doctor Who, Girl Genius, and An Idiot Abroad.

I’ve enjoyed telling stories all my life, starting with short stories in grade school. In high school I discovered tabletop role-playing games, where I learned what makes a story work and how to create a living world. I began writing professionally as a member of the content design team for the MMORPG Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted, and finally realized what I wanted to be when I grew up.

I live in Denver with my wife, Noelle, and daughter, Alissa. The three of us can often be found prowling around Istaria, Wizard City, and the wilds of Azeroth. I also make occasional side jaunts to scavenge bits of ancient technology in the radioactive ruins of the Grand Canyon Province.

Rose Drake came to Earth to find a human that she could share energy with to help her body produce eggs.  Those eggs will eventually be fertilized by another dragon to make baby dragons.  Having baby dragons is very important to the dragon society because they are a dying species.  David Fraser is a computer/gaming geek that spends his time with other gamers.  When Rose walks up to David outside a gamers meeting he believes everything Rose tells him.  He still believes in the fantasy.  They form a bond that will last for three years while Rose absorbs his energy.  This is the story of their adventures together. This was a different read for me.  I enjoyed it.  It was well written, easy to read, and kept my attention.  I enjoyed the different trials and tribulations Rose and David faced.  I also enjoyed the diversity of their group of friends.  My only problem with the book was that I couldn’t really tell what the storyline was.  It was literally about living life with a fire-breathing girlfriend.  Yes, they did go on some adventures and quests, but overall, it was just Rose and David’s day to day living.  So, while I’m not giving shouting about it from the rooftops, I still enjoyed this book enough give it 4 bombs.

LIFE WITH A FIRE-BREATHING GIRLFRIEND under the guiding hands of Bryan Fields has created a masterful trilogy all wrapped up in one book...Why do I call it a trilogy? Because that IS what it is.  Book One introduces us to ROSE DRAKE, a sexy Dragoness with a LOT of "tude" in her human form and beyond, and DAVID FRASER, the man her inner barn buster gets all hot and bothered over...for a little while...maybe. Book Two picks up when you've come to the end of Book One and before realizing there's more to come, leaving you lamenting and mourning the end of your adventures with Rose, David and their coterie of subtle warriors.  But THEN you find Book Two and Book Three...Hallelujah! Still when you really DO reach the end, you can't help but hope this is not the last time you will venture into the world of Rose, the exquisite Dragoness and David the Human Man who'd give her the Universe. FIVE STARS I give LIFE WITH A FIRE-BREATHING GIRLFRIEND by Bryan Fields...and may I plant a bug in Mr. Fields ear and ask for MORE????
