Overview

Lifehouse

There's no shortage of angry young men in the realm of rock, but when it comes to articulate and mature 20-somethings, the field is fairly open -- which makes Lifehouse frontman Jason Wade all the more compelling. There's a dreamy aspect to a number of the disc's dozen tunes, as evidenced by the opening "Come Back Down," which pits airy harmonies against a backdrop focused on a spare, chiming guitar line. Wade still has issues in the realm of romance -- a trait that might wreak havoc in his personal life but one that enables him to compose compellingly angsty missives like the stormy "You and Me" and the wounded "We'll Never Know" (which has a streak of Goo Goo Dolls balladry running through it). For "Walking Away," on the other hand, Wade takes a slightly more detached approach, one that's underscored by the deliberate pace and soft-focus guitars reminiscent of psychedelic-era Beatles album tracks. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking in the grooves of Lifehouse, but Wade pours so much of himself into them, those familiar sounds take on a newly minted sheen.

This cd is awesome!!!! I really like all the different songs that are on this cd, it is good from start to finish. Jason's voice has really improved as far as vocals go, there are some really sweet melodies in this song, also the sounds of the songs are really good. The thing that I like so much also about this album is the awesome job that bryce did on the bass for this cd, he has some of the most tasteful bass riff's I have heard. it is really sick.

Lifehouse's newest cd is truly amazing. They definitely are one of those bands that will be around for along time. It seems that with every cd they get better and better, and that no matter how many times you might listen to any of their cds, you can't get sick of them. They also are a great band to see live which makes them even more wonderful. I'd highly recommend if you haven't already purchased this cd to go and get it, because it is a worthy purchase.

This is by far the best CD that lifehouse has ever released. I have been a fan from the begining and will continue to be.

I've listened to this album about ten times already. It's a really good CD. I highly recommend it. If you love U2, the Goo Goo Dolls or Matchbox Twenty, you'll enjoy this album. Besides,"You and Me," I like the song "Into the Sun," and "All and All." Their is no bad songs on this album. This album rules.

Lifehouse has reinvented their sound every time they have released an album, so it's no wonder that they sound different on this CD than they have on all the rest. If you listen to all 3 records, you’ll find that none of them sound 100% alike – The second record is more intense and edgier than the first, and the third is a lot more laid back than the second. That being said, the album contains an awesome network of songs (albeit a little repetitive at times towards the latter tracks), and it is just as good as their previous two. The first 6 songs of the CD are absolutely amazing, and in an age where music is so mass-produced to the point where everything basically sounds the same, this CD is definitely a good buy.

Every song on this album is beautiful in its own way. You will not be disappointed if you get it. The lyrical poetry and strong melodies of lead singer Jason Wade won't let you down. The deep, meaningful lyrics that Lifehouse has produced in the past are still very much alive and strong. After a short hiatus, it is so great to have Jason and Rick back along with a great new bassist, Bryce Soderburg. It is very much worth your purchase!

Another good Cd from lifehouse. The words are very poetic and it has a smooth, calming, melody throughout that makes you fall in love with the album.

This is an incredible album filled with original and creative sounds and lyrics. From the very creative bass to the beautiful melodies, this album will open your ears to the world of Lifehouse. The Chords and progression in 'Come back down' have you singing the song before you even know all of the lyrics. It almost feels like a part of you, but somehow you never knew it existed until now. There is great variety in the whole album, and the longer you listen to it the more you discover. Soon you are hearing things you never noticed before and come to appreciate about this album. By the time 'The end' comes you are really not ready at all for the CD to be over.

So my friends all made fun of me repeatedly over my level of excitement about this album, but they took me to get it the day it was released anyway. When I brought i back to the dorms to listen to it, they were immediately asking to borrow it! I've been a die-hard lifehouse fan since the beginning, but will admit that the second album didn't strike my fancy the same as the first one, however i am "falling even more in love" with this self titled album every time I listen to it. The music is much similar to that of their first one with perhaps a bit more upbeat. My favorite part about lifehouse has always been the lyrics to their songs. They are what allow me to listen to their CDs repeatedly. I am always able to find new messages in the words and this album definitely holds a lot of potential for years of enjoyment. I'M SO EXCITED!!!

So, I'm not disappointed per say, but it's only because I know what to expect from LH. There isn't any hard-hitting stuff in this 3rd release. It's 45 minutes of "Where have I heard that before?" However, somewhere buried beneath the piles and piles of vapid, meaningless whining/love-confessing are mini gems of compelling, meaningful lyrics such as, "Salt and tears in the minds and mouths of a bad decision," and "Strange how life coincides with the seasons of today," and...oh wait that's all. Honestly, if I were Jason, I would just step back, find another profession, and let the REAL lyricists do the work. Also, I would be happier with this album if there was SOME evidence that Jason had a filter in his mind that said, "Ooo, J, you've used that lyric before. Whoa, J, you have a vocabulary that exceeds the same 25 words, use it!" I'm going to listen to this album, however, because I am a "huge fan" who has seen them in concert a ridiculous amount of times, goes to their MB every day and sports a LH sticker on my binder. But: spare yourself.

Most people thought Lifehouse was done after their second album didn't do as well as "No Name Face." Guess what? They were wrong! Lifehouse has come back with an album that is not only catchy, but also heart-felt and real. The lyrics stick with you all day. The opening track, "Come Back Down," hooks you right away. There is a mixture of fast-paced songs and ballads, making the album easy to listen to straight through. Some highlight tracks include: "Come Back Down," "Blind," "Undone," "We'll Never Know," and "Walking Away." This album is definitely worth every penny! This is one of the best albums I have ever owned! Each track is unbelievable and it will stick into your head for weeks to come! I really love "You and Me", that one is probably my favorite out of all of them. Buy it, you will not be disappointed at all!!!!

I think this album could end up being my favorite album of groups. The songs tend to be on the mellow side, but it still has an upbeat feel. Lifehouse's sound remains similar to the other albums despite their loss of pre-existing members. It is a great album and worth purchasing if you are unsure of whether or not to purchase it.

I really enjoy the new Lifehouse album. I think that it's great that the guys decided to continue their talents and give us a great new CD. It has a more mellow tone this time, but it's a really cool chill out CD or just perfect for a Saturday evening drive!

This album was without a doubt AWESOME.The lyrics were thought provoking and touching, not to mention catchy. The melodies were also touching. The guitars were crisp and the drums and bass were kickin'. Great job. Would buy it over and over again.
