Life's Bulldozer Moments: How Adversity Leads to Success in Life and Business by Donato Tramuto

Donato Tramuto felt bulldozed by life as a child when he lost most of his hearing to an ear infection that left him isolated and treated as a failure. A succession of tragedies rocked his world, including a last minute decision to change his plans to fly out of Logan Airport on 9/11 on the same LA-bound flight that claimed the lives of his close friends. In this poignant and penetrating book, Tramuto, a successful health care entrepreneur and global philanthropist, recounts the business and life lessons he learned and shows that adversity can lead to success. He shows anyone bulldozed by life how to pull themselves out of the rubble, dust themselves off and find meaning and purpose.

After reading Donato Tramuto's reflections on business and the adversity he has faced throughout his life - what he calls "bulldozer moments" - I thought back on my own bulldozer moments and how they shaped my life. Tramuto's examples of being knocked down to his core and getting back up with a renewed purpose and vision are inspiring, and they make you realize you are not alone when going through tough times. Tramuto has taken his life lessons and turned them into success, and he has mapped out advice on how to not only succeed in life and in business, but to thrive and to give back. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has ever felt alone, demoralized or knocked down by life - as Tramuto points out, those are the moments that will make you a better person in life and in business.

After concluding the Life's Bulldozer Moments was NOT about the construction industry, I picked it up and looked at the impressive endorsements on the back cover. Wow ! This was a quick, well written and inspirational read about one man's determination to overcome and learn from life's challenges. A great book that will stay with you.

I was given this book as a Christmas present. I really didn't know much about the author, Donato Tramuto. But my friend always has recommended great reads. The book was great. He is a very savvy business man but more importantly a thoughtful and inspirational man.
