Luke Ashton is the general contractor for his cousin's company, Ashton Architecture and Design . Luke has been assigned to remodel Dr. Caldwell's clinic, and he doesn't expect his latest project to include the woman who could knock his world off it's axis and set it right again. He finds himself working longer hours around her property, spending time to get to know Kate better. Luke is handsome, with his striking green eyes, rugged physique, and a body that would make any woman weak in the knees. He certainly turns Kate's head.
Kate and Luke feel the chemistry and tension between them, but both are skeptical about moving forward. Kate is terrified to let anyone into her life, let alone her heart. Luke has a past that easily scares women away. He's struggled since he was eighteen, when unexpected circumstances turned him into a man. Luke is also a veteran with nightmares that follow him all day-every day.
Do Kate and Luke give into one another's baggage and avoid each other, like their heads tell them, or do they fight for the happily ever after they both want? When 'life' gives them more battles to fight, will they be strong enough to fight for each other?
"Luke, my life story is crazy and complicated, why would you want to attempt this?" - Kate
"Sunshine, we can't erase our past, but we sure as hell can turn the page in your story and create our own crazy happy life together." - Luke
Does Life's Next Chapter give Kate her fairy tale ever after, or will it be the chapter she quickly skips through?

***** I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review***** After reading book 1 in this series I thought I had an idea of what to expect going into this book, however Sarah Goodman had this book go places I never would have thought of happening. Life's Next Chapter is another emotional ride. She touches on some very sensitive subjects, but she writes them in a very tasteful way. I laughed and I cried throughout this whole book. I loved the first book in this series , but I have to say this one was even better. It is very well written and will keep you turning pages. Kate is a very strong female lead. She has divorced her husband due to him cheating on her. She is raising her daughters on her own with no help from her ex-husband She is set on concentrating on her daughters and her career. Luke is a military veteran and a single dad. He has been hoping for the perfect family. He believes he has found that in Kate. Kate and Luke's relationship seems perfect, but through in a crazy ex-husband, tragedy, and crazy funny kids and things can spiral out of control quick. With all of these factors you can never even guess what is going to happen next. I highly recommend this book!
As a fan of Sarah Goodman's work, I have to say she has this talent of allowing you to completely fall in love with all her characters. Every single one. It's like one big family you wish you were apart of. Life's Next Chapter is no exception. While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that after your read this one, you go back and read book one, Life's Perfect Plan. "I want you...I want you to be mine. Since the moment I met you, I've wanted you to be mine. You're everything I want and need, and so much more." Dr. Kate Caldwell is currently raising her twin girls after divorcing her cheating cop ex-husband. As a veterinarian of her own practice and a full time mom, her days are filled. She's pretty much just living. Until Luke. Luke Ashton works for a contractor company that is currently renovating Kate's clinic. The moment Kate said "Oh Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, my womb just started to spasm.". Gah. Luke. He's pretty much my dream man. Not only is he devastatingly good looking (HAVE YOU SEEN THE COVER?! HELLO GORGEOUS!), but he's one of the most genuine, sincere hero in a book I've ever met (or read...). There is an instant attraction between both Luke and Kate. But, they're both hesitant at first. Kate has a past and wants to concentrate on her girls, while Luke has baggage that many women can't even begin to deal with. Luke and Kate's journey to each other is such a beautiful one. Two people given difficult circumstances are allowed another chance at life. At love. "You told me in your letter to fall, and you would catch me. Well now that you caught me, please don't ever let go." As Kate and Luke get to know each other, their attraction grows stronger. Soon enough, it's inevitable that they fall for each other. There is no insta love here. What Luke and Kate have is real. Despite past heartache, they both have laid themselves bare. They look at their past as part of there journey to each other. There is an incident that occurs that I did not see coming. Their relationship and faith in each other is tested time and time again. In tragedy, they became each other's strength. Their love conquered it all. "I want nothing more than to be permanently in your life. I've waited my whole adult life for you. You and those girls are everything, and more, to me. I would like to aim for infinity with you." What I love most about Sarah's writing is the voices of her characters. It takes contemporary romance to another level. They are strong. Kate is a beautiful, intelligent woman. She is a wonderful mother. She knows what she wants in life and she goes for it. Luke is a hard working man. He is everything you want as a partner in life. His love for Kate knows no boundaries. Even when their relationship faced unthinkable obstacles, he was always there to pick up the pieces and make them whole again. The group of family and friends is also one of my favorite parts of this series. They make this story wholesome and funny. This series is the type where you easily become lost in for an entire day. Life's Next Chapter is romantic, sexy, and highly emotional. It is a story that attests that we all get a second chance at loving and living. That true love trumps everything. That in all things, choose love. I absolutely love this series and cannot wait to get into the third book. If you want true romance that will make you FEEL, then the Life Series is for you.
¿¿¿¿ This book was another emotional book for me... It's Kate's story and her life with her twin girls. I loved Kate from Life's Perfect Plan and I loved her even more in this book. Though not short on drama with her ex Keith, I didn't cry as much as I did with the first book. Kate is putting her life back together after her split from her ex husband Keith and his cheating and stealing ways. Next on her list is remodeling her veterinary clinic that she has taken over since her granddaddy retired. With the remodel come Luke, the sexy contractor that molds his way into her life. Luke has a past just like everyone else, he's plagued by his "dark days" and it seems that Kate is his new form of therapy. Life is never perfect nor does it ever go according to plan but Luke and Kate try to make it work. Outside forces try to pull them apart and one massive heartbreaking blow threatens to pull them apart.. can they make it? If you haven't read this series I do recommend it, it was truly an emotional roller coaster in book one and book two was a great read.. I can't wait for Ethan and Leah's story..¿TARA
