I helped my grandson wrap the mummy at five (I also bought about to more roles of guaze to make it look real) and now that he is taking world civ -- the iceman through the second crusade -- he took it to share with his class. It was a big hit. It takes patience and a little help from an adult but what a shared experience we had! Super!!!

My son received this as a gift when he was 5. He was, and still is, very interested in archeology and mummies, and he loved it. It was very informative, and he enjoyed the fact that he had his very own mummy. Now my other son, who will be 5 soon, wants this for his birthday.

Lift the Lid was a torturous kit to execute. The ridiculously tedious cardboard parts to glue together was enough to mummify yourself and be done with it. The book could sell itself but if the novel idea of selling it as a kit was a ploy to make more money, it was a waste. Just buy a book re: mummies or find a better kit.
