Salina, Kansas, 1876: A young woman is swept into the crosswords of history in the clash of two cultures as one ascends and the other declines. She disappears into the chaos, emerging two years later torn between two worlds—and two men. One clings desperately to the hope that she is alive. The other would have considered her a mortal enemy—until he met her.

About the Author
As a writer in love with the late Old West (post-Civil War to 1900), I plan more novels for that period. Appropriately to the characters of my first three books, I have Irish and Scottish immigrant blood, as well as a bit of Cherokee. I hold Bachelor's degrees from Washington State University and Brooks Institute of Photography, and am a former college instructor and professional photographer. I live near the ocean on California's Central Coast and am currently researching ideas for my next historical novel.

Ellen tells her story and shares her diary with a young reporter. As her story unfolds Ellen shares her life changing events that leave her torn between Bear Paw a shohone indian and captian Morrow. I did not want want to put the book down, I had too many questions. A lot happens in 260 pages. The history of the american indian has no good ending but I think this book did. A must read. I hope the author writes more books like this one.
