Totally mesmerizing! You just have to love the petite librarian, Julianna, who seems to have struggles wherever she turns - from the library board who aren't so sure about a female librarian to her Paul Bon Jean (Paul Bunyan) AKA Richard who seems to be attracted to her sister, Claudette. Richard, on the other hand, can't quite figure out why the lovely Julianna is holding him at arm's length. Sit down, get a cup or tea or coffee, and enjoy reading how lilacs become the centerpiece in a relationship that so many are encouraging. Carrie Fancett Pagels has done it again, giving us a page turner that is hard to put down until you have read all the way to the end! I received an ARC from the author for review which I am cheerfully doing!

It was such a treat reading “Lilacs For Juliana” by Carrie Fancett Pagels. I was taken with the charm and sweetness of Juliana and Richard’s story. Juliana, the sweet librarian fighting for her job and Richard, a handsome mountain of a lumberjack fighting for Juliana. As a growing attraction simmers between them, Richard becomes aware that another man is vying for her attentions. And could the fact that Juliana loves lilacs come between her and Richard? What is God’s plan for them? In the third installment of The Christy Lumber Camp series, Ms. Pagels continues the saga of the Christy family with “Lilacs For Juliana”, a Paul Bunyan-sized novella!

What a truly delightful read. Continuing the story of the Christy family and their life in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. Juliana is a librarian and has met Richard Christy in her library. Wow, how great is that. What follows is the love story between them. Bumps and misunderstandings abound. Will true love win out? You must read this story to see how God works in the lives of his people. Highly recommend this story

Librarian Juliana Beauchamp has had her heart broken numerous times. Her brothers lost in the War, her father's death and then her fiance calling off their wedding. Working at the library, helping at the orphanage, taking care of her mother and sister has become her life. But.. When she meets a Paul Bunyan lookalike, the handsome giant Paul Bon Jean aka lumberjack Richard Christy.. Juliana feels her heart warm a little and thinks just maybe, she could like this man. A story of obligation to family, hard work, faith and romance made Juliana's story so real and inspiring. I kept thinking if they would only tell each other what they were really thinking they could have prevented so much of their self-inflicted misery. I really liked Richard's solution of his terrible allergy to Lilacs & Juliana's love of them. It made for a wonderfully romantic ending. I was gifted a copy by the author for my honest opinion, which is... I really enjoyed reading Lilacs for Juliana and I would certainly recommend it.

The third short novel in The Christy Lumber Camp Series, Lilacs for Juliana is an overlapping tale of family and life in the rustic upper peninsula of Michigan. I recommend that you read the first two installments in this series in order to be able to understand past events and characters throughout these stories. Without that background information some portions of the book would be confusing. Much takes place in this story that parallels the developing romance between Juliana and Richard. As the story develops family members become closer, and friends play an important role in one another's lives. This is a sweet story of romance, overcoming obstacles, forgiveness, and proceeding forward even with uncertainty for the future. Characters are likable and the plot is charming. Life with the Christy family is never dull. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. All expressed opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review.

Once again, Carrie Fancett Pagels brings Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to life in this delightful continuation of the Christy Lumber Camp Series! I loved revisiting beloved members of the Christy family and enjoyed reading Richard “Moose” Christy’s story. When this giant lumberjack visits the St. Ignace library and meets librarian Juliana Beauchamps, a wonderful story is set in motion. Full of heart, Lilacs for Juliana charmed me and its romantic ending left me with a sigh and a smile! Lilacs for Juliana is the third book in the Christy Lumber Camp Series, following The Fruitcake Challenge and The Lumberjacks’ Ball. While these stories can stand alone, I believe they are better enjoyed as a series read in order. I love these historical narratives and look forward to reading more from this talented author! I received a complimentary copy of Lilacs for Juliana in exchange for an unbiased review.

This Christian romance is a mixture of romance, faith, laughter, scheming, and forgiveness. The setting is in the forests of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Juliana's fiancé left her, and she became a lovely spunky librarian to support her ailing mom, ailing sister and herself. Richard, nicknamed Moose because of his size, is the boss of his new lumberjack camp. Juliana is telling stories about Paul Bon Jean to a group of children when he walks into the library. Will he become her very own true to life Paul Bon Jean? Will she lose her job? Will he let her go to Milwaukee to marry someone else or will he go after her? What will happen to them? This is a great read written with a great writing skill. It is book three in the Lumberjack series about the Christy family. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Lilacs for Juliana,***** book 3 The Christy Lumber Camp series by Carrie Fancett Pagels Lilacs for Juliana is about the youngest Christy son, Richard “Moose” Christy, who is preparing to manage his first lumber camp. As he goes about recruiting a cook for the lumberjack camp he frequently visits the small library in town and is captivated by the librarian at first sight. But she is so petite, far too delicate and educated for Moose—isn't she? Juliana Beauchamps is the petite librarian in St. Ignace, Michigan, but is fearful of loosing the job she loves. While telling the story of Paul Bon Jean (a Paul Bunyan-like character) to the young orphans, in walks Richard and Juliana sees—“Paul Bon Jean”—in this giant of a man, as do the young children. A visitor to the town, wealthy James Yost from Milwaukee, seems to be interested in Juliana too—but what is James really after? I like the way Carrie Pagels gives the readers a bit of history about lumberjack camps and the lumberjacks. It is especially interesting that Mrs. Pagels is an actual descendant of lumberjacks, which perhaps has given her a love for lumberjacks and their families. The characters are true-to-life and captured my attention from the first page. It is good to revisit some of the characters in the other two stories in the series in this one—I so love the Christy family. I like that each of the characters are not perfect but have ups and downs, trials, challenges, heartaches, joy and struggles just as we do. I like the way faith, love of God and family is woven throughout the story. There are dangers, tragedies, forgiveness, romance, a big misunderstanding that could jeopardize a growing relationship—over lilacs of all things, family obligations and so much more in this short story—making it seem like a full-length story. I really enjoyed this novella and hope there will be more novellas following this one. ~I received a PDF copy of this book from the author for my honest review~

Wednesday, October 21, 2015 Lilacs for Juliana by Carrie Fancett Pagels, © 2015 The Christy Lumber Camp Series, Book 3 A lovely story begins of good intentions. How often do we portray who we are, or are we coy, hoping others will interpret our actions? Miss Juliana Beauchamps must find her heart's desire in leaving the past behind and not allowing it to affect her future decisions of who she is truly. Come along as the good intentions are eventually portrayed in a heart that is noble and true. But the story must progress, as our lives, daily ~ not arriving in one big humph and we're there. Richard "Moose" (as his family and other loggers call him) Christy, has come to nearby St. Ignace in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula to set up Christy Lumber Camp at Grand Crossing, readying it for the loggers who will be coming to this new section. With a camp bunkhouse lodge larger than previous camps his father has operated, Richard is hoping to bring in the very best for this new operation. His first agenda is to find cooks to keep the men's bellies full and their enthusiasm up without lack. Cherishing his nurturing time with reading, he sets out to the St. Ignace town library ~ until he finds out his favorite is not only literary. Juliana is the librarian. Five feet to his six-six in height, she already is set to look up to him! So sweet when he comes upon the children's hour storytelling, embellishing Paul Bon Jean, famed woodsman of tales (parallels the giant lumberjack originated by loggers in folklore's oral legend ~ Paul Bunyan). With Richard unable to tell her of his longings, Juliana seems to slip through his fingers as she travels to Milwaukee for a very long month ahead. Leaving her home to assist the set up of the personal library of a beer baron in Milwaukee, Juliana has time to consider her past and her future. Baron James Yost has always been able to persuade with his wealth, charm, and talent. Setting details without inquiring with those he has determined to appeal to his liking, to his credit is his little daughter, Isabelle. As a widower, she is his delight and has such a sweet appealing countenance, you will be uplifted by her lightness in a situation that could be hampering. Actually, James Yost does Juliana a favor by no choice but to meet her past and resolve it. Offering forgiveness is one thing, actually experiencing it is another. How can we twist a person's life by our suggestions? Wait a while; consider this ~ pulling us from our true intent? How it affects others as our decisions appease. Wait until you find out the true lilacs of the heart given to Juliana, an heirloom for generations to enjoy. ***Thank you to author Carrie Fancett Pagels for sending me a copy of Lilacs for Juliana, inviting me to be part of the blog tour for book 3 in The Christy Lumber Camp Series. Another delightful addition to The Christy Lumber Camp series. Carrie does such a wonderful job of bringing her characters to life and this one was no exception. This one follows Juliana, a spunky librarian, and Richard, a lumberjack, in their bumpy and sometimes humorous road to discovering their love for each other. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and I definitely recommend this one as well as the other books in the series to any reader who enjoys good Christian historical romance.
