Lily (Chase Family Series, Book 6) by Lauren Royal

A Top 10 Nook Bestseller from a New York Times Bestselling Author!

England, 1677: Lily Ashcroft is far and away the most conventional member of her eccentric family. Though she fell for dashing Oxford professor Lord Randal Nesbitt at the tender age of sixteen, she buried her feelings in deference to society's expectation that her older sisters marry first. Four years later, her sister Rose has now set her sights on Rand--and though it breaks her heart, what else can Lily do but help her beloved sister land the man of her dreams?

What no one considers are Rand's feelings on the matter. He's been nursing a secret affection for sweet, compassionate Lily ever since their first meeting. But Rose is just as beautiful and shares his academic interests. Now he finds himself caught between two lovely sisters--the one he's expected to wed and the one who's captured his heart...

About the Author

I decided to become a writer in the third grade (or, as my Canadian friends call it, grade three), after winning a "Why My Mother is the Greatest" essay contest and having my entry published in a major newspaper. Seeing my words in print was a thrill! But everyone told me it's too hard for novelists to get published, so after college I spent fourteen years as the CEO of my own jewelry store chain before writing my first book. A mistake? Maybe...but my first heroine, Amethyst, was a jeweler, so at least I took advantage of that wise old saying, "Write what you know." And I learned a good lesson: Don't let other people tell you what you can or can't do!

I write humorous historical romance mostly set in England and Scotland in the 17th and 19th centuries (Restoration and Regency periods). I've been oh-so-lucky to see my books hit bestseller lists all over the world, including the New York Times and USA Today lists, making this second career a real dream come true. I live in Southern California with my family and a constantly shedding cat, and I still think my mother is the greatest!

In 1673, after sixteen-year-old Lily Ashcroft meets aristocratic scholar Randal Nesbit she challenges the family motto of ¿Question Convention¿. Lily realizes she has found her life mate and wants a very conventional marriage to the decade older Randal. He is extremely attracted to Lily but he keeps reminding himself she is only sixteen. In fact he uses that rationalization for the next four years to keep his distance. However, Rand sees Lily during a Baptism of her twin nephew and niece and he knows he no longer can hide behind her under age status, nor does he want too. He simply desires marriage to his beloved Lily. However, she concludes that her sister Rose has set her sights on Rand and Lily decides to sacrifice her own happiness for her family. However, neither sibling understands that to Rand a Rose is not a Rose as his preference run towards a different flower. LILY, the second bloom in Lauren Royal¿s seventeenth century romantic bouquet (see VIOLET) is an enjoyable tale starring two nice people who (with Rose) make an interesting triangle. The story line is entertaining, but no character is deeply developed and the conflict is not that powerful. Still, readers will enjoy a warm historical romance starring charming protagonists who want no one hurt. Harriet Klausner

The story of Lily and Rand seems very straight forward. They find immediate chemistry with each of very quickly in the book. But Lauren Royal, the wonderful story teller she is, weaves so many road blocks with twists and turns you almost doubt the early predictable ending. I would highly recommend this book.JM

Loved this trilogy by Lauren Royal as much as the original trilogy that led up to this set. She takes a lot of privileges with history to make it fun and exciting but also gives the non-fictionalized version of the people and events at the end of the book.
