Lionheart Richard Collinridge It is time for bed, but as Richard stands in his room with his lion hat and tail on, he hears a noise. He thinks to himself monsters aren’t real, as he hugs his stuffed Lionheart for comfort. He begins to run through the streets and the forest and into the fields. Suddenly, he hears someone. It’s Lionheart, who is no longer a toy. The lion tells Richard to come with him, and the two go away from the monster together. They adventure into the Lost City, where Richard plays with the animals. The boy has so much fun that he forgets about the scary monster. Lionheart, however, has not forgotten and can feel and see the monster coming. Now Richard sees it too, but he looks up at Lionheart with his glowing blue eyes and knows what to do. He has to be brave like his Lionheart has shown him. Together, Richard, Lionheart, and the other animals of the Lost City begin to roar. Does the roar scare away the monster? Or does it only make him even angrier? Read this book to find out the fate of Richard and his lion. It will leave children feeling brave and ready to face even their biggest fears. The illustrations will draw in their attention and children will notice new details each time they read the story. BIBLIO: 2016, Scholastic Inc., Ages 3 to 8, $17.99.
