Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Ramirose I. Attebury
This is a very simple tale of three trucks: Blue Truck, Dump Truck, and Green Truck. Why two of the trucks are named for their colors and one for its function is unclear. When Dump Truck goes up a muddy hill and becomes stuck; the other two pull him out, and they all become friends. Where Dump Truck was trying to go remains to be seen. After the other two pull him out, an illustration shows them all coming down the hill and proclaims them pals, yet the very next page shows the three truck pals perched happily at the top of the hill. While the bilingual book may benefit emerging readers due to its simple text, the “story” leaves something to be desired. The minimalist illustrations do little to enhance the appeal of the book. Although the library binding ensures that this is a sturdy book, for the price requested, librarians and teachers would do well to seek other options. Reviewer: Ramirose I. Attebury; Ages 4 to 7.
