Little Bean is an active little toddler who keeps herself busy while Daddy does his work at home. When she and her dog Bouncer get too noisy, Daddy sends them outside to play. There she has lots of fun by herself sliding down the slide, digging in the sand, riding her tricycle and splashing in her pool. When she and Bouncer run around and play tag, she gets so excited she accidentally tosses her favorite bear over the garden wall into the neighbor's yard. When the neighbor and her little boy bring back the bear, Little Bean is afraid and runs in to get Daddy. Daddy encourages her to make friends with the little boy he calls nice Paul and Little Bean soon discovers that having a friend makes playing twice as much fun. This story encourages children, especially only children, not to be afraid to make a new friend. In doing so, they might discover that playing could be even more fun with a friend. 1997 (orig.
