In 2005, Deirdre “Little Darling” Franklin founded the non-profit organization, Pinups for Pitbulls, because she was tired of so-called rescues and shelters euthanizing healthy, friendly, and adoptable animals due to their alleged “breed.”
Drawing on her background in modeling, she created a calendar like no othereye-catching pinup girls and their pit bull pups, in era-appropriate stylethat has become something of a phenomenon in the world of animal advocacy.
Now, Pinups for Pitbulls has assembled the best of their calendars and many never-before-seen photographs into a lush full-color volume. Featuring essays and testimonials from former pinups and longtime volunteers as well as a complete history of the breed, helpful tips for new rescue owners, and a heartfelt homage to the dog who inspired it allthe late Carla LouLittle Darling’s Pinups for Pitbulls is a must-have book for anyone who loves their four-legged friend.

Knowing Deirdre "Little Darling" Franklin, I knew that this book would be something special. My expectations were exceeded, and then some! I was initially drawn to the beautiful photographs, but when I sat down and read the book cover to cover, I found that's where the real beauty lives. This book perfectly illustrates the notion of being the change you wish to see in the world. Breaking barriers and dispelling myths is not easy work, for the two or the four legged, and yet Little Darling and the PFPB family do so with so much grace and class it looks easy. I hope that readers will be inspired to support this mission, and all missions, that support making this world a safe place for everyone to live. .
What a wonderfully put together book! Little Darling is a unique and beautiful soul, we need more people like her! A great back story with how her organization came to be. Lovely features on some great dogs and inspirational people. The photos are stunning! Highly recommend this to everyone!
Such brilliant color photos of some of the most beautiful, compassionate, intelligent women and stunning dogs. The way Little Darling and her friends, family and fans shed light on the ludicrous concept of Breed Discriminatory legislation is nothing short of GENIUS. It is about time that the world at large realizes the facts and science behind the obvious conclusion about 'pit bull'-types, they are dogs like any other dogs. Stop acting like they're anything but.
This is one amazing book! Well written profile of the history and attributes of a great breed of dog, plus the journey of one girl who created a very influential non profit charity. Gorgeous photos, and fun, feel-goo facts and stories. I high recommend this to any lover of dogs of any kind or Pinup art lovers. This book will educate you and leave you smiling!
