Self-deprecating, sweet, sassy! Meet protagonist Emi Harrison who is dreading not only her weight gain but also the wedding where she will have to confront the ex-fiancee she dumped five years ago for cheating on her. What ensues is a hilarious comedy of errors that is both smart and sexy. When Emi "hires" a handsome bartender to be her date, she is is both attracted to him and terrified to meet her ex again. Combing present and past, we witness Emi's good and bad decisions as the novel winds toward a surprise ending. While I confess I'm not usually a romantic comedy kind of gal (thrillers are my go-to genre), this was a great romp and I am looking forward to her second novel. Great debut Aimee!

The Perfect Summer Accessory! Little Gray Dress starts out as Emi's fun story of bridesmaids, exes, and wardrobe malfunctions. But as you keep reading, the plot evolves into some high-octane drama with a side of hilarity. How could her fiance have done what he did? And she has to see him again all these years later? But then there's barman Liam. But her arch enemy Greta just won't seem to go away! This book interweaves the events and downright shenanigans of the past and present to give us a thrilling ride filled with cattiness, secrets, revenge, dicey hair products, and men who should not be melting Emi's heart. But they do. What is Emi to do? What a fun summer read!

Little Gray Dress by Aimee Brown is simply a fun read to escape with while spending a day at the beach or cozying up on the couch on a rainy afternoon. Filled with as much humor as heartache, Brown sends main character, Emi Harrison’s life in a tailspin through misunderstandings, miscommunications and evil manipulations. Ironic that the story revolves around her brother’s wedding, when the very thing that perpetuated her current status was her own impending wedding two years before. Emi Harrison is not the typical ingénue normally found in women’s fiction or chic-lit books. Is she beautiful? Yes. Great Clothing? Oh, Yes! Especially that little gray dress. Does she have a strong support system of friends around her? She does. Is she stick thin? Absolutely not. Emi is a relatable, young, American woman. She has curves, large breasts and a full bottom, and men are drawn to her. She doesn’t wear a size two, and she makes no apologies for eating two decadent omelets at one sitting. Page after page, I found myself changing my mind on how I wanted the story to end and who I wanted Emi to end up with. Was ex-fiancé, Jack the cad he seemed to be? And should Emi fall into the arms of the willing stranger she’d only met days before? Whoever she chooses, I want the best for her because she deserves it.
