Once again, Ms. Mojica has produced a bona fide winner. The only good descriptive I can come up with for this book is "amazing". And I don't mean the over-used meaning of the word. I was totally blown away by what I didn't know about the Statue of Liberty. This story is not just for kids. The one who reads the book and the one who hears the narrative will both benefit from the telling. I loved the drawings--once again, they were absolutely perfect. Miss History, with a rope slung over her shoulder, ready for adventure; the representative pictures of France and the US, wallets empty; the children's donations, sacrificed in lieu of seeing the circus--so wonderful! This is a book that is not to be missed. It is both entertaining and informative, a characteristic that differentiates the good books from the great ones. Fantastic job. Ms. Mojica! I can hardly wait to see the next one: Sequoia National Park

My favorite subject in school was History so I am trying to instill that love in my daughter. This book is not only informational, but its a fun way to introduce kids to History. The pictures, both drawn and photographs add a nice element to the book and makes it enjoyable to read for the kids (and the parents). This is a great way to prepare a family for a trip to the Statue of Liberty or even for a field trip there. Our family is looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is such a great book for kids. As a mom of three, I'm always looking for books for the bookshelf for the girls to grow into and this one has made it. This non-fiction book blends just the right amount of facts with a storyline to keep kids interested. I also love the illustrations mixed with actual photographs detailing the history of the Statue of Liberty and also what was going on in the United States at that time. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to teach their kids about historical monuments in the US. This book works great as a bedtime story for us too!

Why, oh, why weren't there history books like this when I was growing up?  I disliked reading about history in school.  Ms. Mojica's mix of facts and fun are just the right balance in this very informative read.  The illustrations are very well done and have a wonderful design balance.  The use of both color and black and white photography really add another dimension to each page.  Elementary school teachers and librarians should look at this series to help educate our children about the wonders of this country while teaching them about the past.  Key information is delivered in an entertaining manner. Families with young children planning a trip to the Statue of Liberty would benefit from sharing this book together before their departure.
