Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
This is a twist on an old tail. The Little Red Hen has decided to make tacos and asks her friends if they would like to make and eat them with her. Of course, Cat, Fox, and Pig are delighted to join in and consume such a delicious repast. If you have ever had a taco party at home, you know how messy it can get, and food often spills on the table and sometimes on the floor. Also, there are dishes for all of the foods and sometimes pots and pans. When Little Red Hen seeks help with the clean-up, her friends are all suddenly busy, but help comes from a most unusual source. Little Red Hen decides that these helpers will be the first guests she invites the next time she prepares tacos. The book includes an activity urging kids to create collage animals and stories about them. There are also pages devoted to both the author and illustrator of the book. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
